The sun is shining! The tank is clean! Gasp! The tank is clean! Just kidding. It's ultrasound day! So why am I here instead of cleaning my house? (They are coming to the house to do it.) I'm nervous for no good reason. Two and half more hours and then we'll know!

I had a dream that I had twins. Ever since then all I've thought is that I don't care if it's a boy or a girl, as long as it's one! Really, I should clean. :birdy:

Wow, a housecall? Is that covered by insurance? How cool is that...

Can I ask an "I've never been pregnant" question - what's an ultrasound like emotionally? Do you get teary-eyed, or is it just exciting, or maybe even kind of freaky?

CP...my first Ultrasound with Bailey...I was like..."Where is it?"...I seriously couldn't see a thing...even though the tech was pointing out everything...

Luckily I had pictures which I was able to finally make out!

I don't remember being weepy....just excited at the miracle of it all!

The last US with Bailey, I was 2 weeks from due date. I wasn't good at laying flat on my back..it made me nauseaus...I threw up and totally freaked out the tech.

Kat's first ultrasound was ultra cool...at my first visit..I was only a few weeks along..they couldn't get a heartbeat..so they did an internal ultrasound...she was just in the very early stages of development...still looking very embryotic, but had arms and legs...but she was so tiny she was really "swimming"...it's my favorite!

With Nickolas, I didn't find out (for sure) I was pg until @11 weeks (not stupid, long story). Because they had me classified as a high rick pregnancy they did an ultasound right away. I could see his spine, his internal organs...very cool. It was at that moment that I really came to terms that there was a little person growing in me.

They did another one later to make sure everything was still ok. Up to that point everyone (except David and one of the doctors my mom worked with) was telling me I was having a girl. He was in the fetal position sleeping. The tech woke him up and we could see him stretch. His feet went up over his head and we watched him move his hands as he began to play with his toes. Then the tech showed us the little "snail" poking out near his rump. He was def a boy. I cried, then felt guilty that I had cried.

There is nothing like an ultra sound when you can see everything happening inside you.

With my 2nd pregnancy they had an ultra sound (the icky internal one) already schedualed when I started spotting. It was painful and the tech was very rude. I was not just crying, but bawling all the way through it and even thoung she knew the baby was already gone she refused to tell me. She also refused to let my mom into the room with me.

The ultrasound was totally cool! (It totally isn't covered by ins, btw, neither is any of the homebirth, but it's still cheaper than the deductible on a hospital birth.) The guy drove up in his Porsche with his assistant and set up everything. They did it with me just laying on the couch. Indi was a little monkey and sat on me for most of the time. The rest of the time he pretended to put the jelly on my tummy.

They took a bunch of pictures during and after that they will put on a dvd for us. I didn't realize he was recording everything we were saying during the ultrasound. I was a total dork and now my dorkiness will be immortalized on dvd. What's worse, we said the name on the tape, and we aren't telling anyone the name, so our families are going to have to watch it without sound (which is good for dork factor).

So that's about it. Oh, what? You wanted to know what we're having? Silly me. :p It's a...

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :birdy: :snap:

I love little girls they make me feel so good
I love little girls they make me feel so bad
When they’re around they make me feel
Like I’m the only guy in town
I love little girls they make me feel so good

They don’t care if I’m a one way mirror
They’re not frightened by my cold exterior

Ah! Classic Kevy. Innappropriate and funny and the same time. :p

Thanks for all the congratulations!

To answer your question CP, I was excited and nervous. As much as I wanted a girl I was convinced it would be a boy just because I wanted a girl. While a boy would have been great, I only want two kids, so this was sort of my last chance. I don't get weepy. It was very exciting though. Then it hit me that night. What the heck am I going to do with a girl? I really don't know much about them. Oh well. I guess I'll figure it out as I go.

You are going to be amazed by how much that little bear will wrap your heart around her pinky. I really wanted a boy, because I was so close with my nephews, and am something of a tomboy myself. I wound up with a girl, and the biggest girly-girl you ever saw! I know I would have been just as happy with a boy, but I can't imagine not having my Girl. I am thrilled for you!

What the heck am I going to do with a girl? Hehe. Yours and wendybeth's POV is similar to mine. Being the only girl in my family with three younger brothers, it's kind of hard for me to envision having a daughter. But I'm up for the challenge eventually. :D

My fear is to have two daughters  ;)

Lol! Your fear is warranted. I've a friend with three daughters, and there is some serious estrogen poisoning going on at their house! Tori keeps lobbying for a sister, but I know better!

After three boys I was pretty freaked about having a girl- but Rose is so easy, and she has brought me back to my girly side. Which is so cool- and the others are right, shopping for girls is SO much cooler and more fun and just so exciting!!

I loved having boys- but Rose is the most amazing little person, and I love watching her grow and seeing the difference between her and her brothers.

Congrats Traci- it's just soooo exciting!

Congrats...just wait until that baby comes. The pink fairy will hit your house like a ton of bricks!

We had a boy-girl-girl-boy. We were amazed that after the first girl and all the pink things we got for her, that the second girl got even more pink stuff. The pink fairy hit us again. It is soooo easy and fun to get little pink girly things! Highly addictive.

Now how to figure out future costs of not just college educations...but big princess fairy tale weddings. My husband just about breaks out in hives thinking about that one!

Again.....congrats!

Thanks again everyone. CP's fear reminded me of a Malcolm in the Middle I saw last week. It was a rerun of when Lois was pregnant and Hal asked her if she thought about what she wanted. She spent the whole day fantasizing that her horrible boys were wonderful girls that got along and loved shopping. In the end they turned on her something fierce. One was pregnant, one was married to middle aged white trash, and the other two were just evil. She patted her belly and said, "I hope you're a girl!" :p

I grew up with three sisters and two brothers and we girls could fight like nobody's business. We're best friends now though, so I do feel a little guilt about not giving my daughter a sister. Oh well.

Speaking of pink...I like pink. A lot. But when my mil brought me an entire bag of baby clothes that were all pink I swear I wanted to puke by the bottom of the bag. Don't they make any other colors for girls?!?! I'm pretty sure I will never buy a pink item with all the pink everyone is already talking about buying.

Speaking of in-laws, I'll be at DL with them next month, so a day meet is out of the question. Maybe we can plan a super secret downtown disney friday night meet? (I'm a closet poster. )

Have no fear traci there are alot of cute clothes that do not include pink. Katie tends to wear alot of purple and coral. Just wait until you hit a carter's store and the summer gingham two piece dresses are in. I love dressing Katie up in those. She looks soooo cute!!!!

I'm continually shocked by the predominance of pink in little girls' clothing. Especially the kindergardeners. I swear, 3/4 of the girls I see that age on any given day are wearing something pink. And many are head-to-toe, pink shirt/pants/shoes/backpack. I have my share of pictures of me as a kid in pink frilly dresses, but come on! :vomit: It doesn't help that lots of the character driven clothes for girls, from Barbie to Dora to Sponge Bob, are all frikkin' pink.

I'm with you on that one, Traci.
