My insider clued me in to this...yes, of course I have an insider!
the scheduled return to (limited) monorail service has been postponed one week. The monorail is now scheduled to return to limited service on December 21, 2006. it will likely remain in limited (one-way / bi-directional) service through New year's Day, 2007, when it will once again go out of service until the completion of construction for Finding Nemo.

Resort Hotel Guests will likely be given priority boarding during peak operating hours over the Holiday period. It's been too damn long since my last Monorail ride. I wonder why they're bringing it back up for less than two weeks? Why even bother?

Probably due to the crowds the last week of December? Another way out of the park.

That's my guess. Anything that would help swallow up bodies when the park is at peak is a good thing.

Every little bit helps. It was nice that the Matterhorn opened early.

They did it specifically to thwart me. By delaying until the day after I leave, they deny me my monorail goodness, and yet remain able to taunt me with the knowledge that it will be running while I'm stuck back at work. Oh, the humanity!

Does your inside source know what happened to the loop and when it is coming back?

Inquiring minds want to know...
Skeptical minds know better.

I know what happened to the loop (I'm assuming you mean the one on California Lamin').
They're modifying supports to the ride for access to/from Midway Mania's main show building. They're replacing the loop with a new one with a slightly different support structure. The ride should reopen soon, (unless we get REALLY lucky and a crane falls on/or crashes into it.).

They've also modified some other supports on California Snorin' to accommodate Midway Mania/Madness whatever the hell they're calling it.
There are photos on Westcoaster.net of that work.

It's a shame they'll have to tear it down permanently when I become King of Disneyland.

It's a little known secret, but it used to be that if you go around the back and show them your hotel key, they let you in front of the line.

Ahhh, I can sleep better now just knowing it's back.

Thanks.

We have to hit that, BTW. When the hell are we going to subject ourselves to that mobscene?

I can confirm it's been delayed.

The Matterhorn, however, opened a few days early.

And the Matterhorn has the Permanecer sentados porfavor (or however you spell it) back! GC called me from the attraction so I could hear it over the phone. :)

Real close, NA! It's "permanecer sentados, por favor"......

But I thought the permanecer never changed - it was the English part that they messed with. Instead of "Remain seated please" it became "remain seated with your seatbelt fastened."

They did change the spanish spiel but it was only for a brief period of time.

So is the English part still changed?

The monorail is still up as of today.

Last night, as we were riding the last train of the evening (at about 8:10 - the park closed at 8:00), someone behind us asked the conductor how late the Monorail ran. He said it ran for two hours after park closing. We gently asked him if he meant the parking lot trams, but he insisted that no, it was the Monorail that ran that late. We quietly informed the guests that no, it did not run that late.

As we pulled into the tomorrowland station, they announced that the last Monorail of the evening would be leaving the station in a few minutes - insinuating that there would still be time to catch it. Before the train even rolled out of the station, the Monorail departed its station. Unless anybody who got off the train was Dash, they couldn't have made it past the Autopia when the Monorail left the station

The people that we quietly informed about the Monorail leaned over and thanked us.

Again, another example of the quality of cast member that the Disneyland Resort hires for cheap. I swear these new hires give me headaches! I work with more than my share of "dumb and dumberer" cm's and it's a struggle not to just throw your hands up and scream! I'm still waiting for those "best and brightest" people HR said that they hire with the new hiring guidlines that they spoke of so highly at the union negotiations I sat in on last year. I'm not so sure I can maintain my sanity until that happens.
