Ok, making it official. Just an FYI if we get a larger group (20?)we get a 30% discount.

Thursday, January 11th 2007 at 6:30. Sing along with the film and a special appearance by Marry Poppings. Rumor has a special panel this night before the show.

So, if we can get a group that would be cool. I know I'm going on that THursday but if anyone wants to do the group thing on another night, I'm up for that too!

Anyone?

One of the Sherman brothers will be on hand to play some music from the movie. Forget which one.

ETA: Richard Sherman. He'll introduce the movie and play some songs. I think that is the "panel." Each performance will include an appearance by Mary Poppins but I suspect it will just be a meet-and-greet type thing like for The Little Mermaid.

I am sooooo wanting to go to this. Thursday would present a problem, but if there's a group going, I will make sacrifices to be there.

Otherwise, if some folks want to go on a weekend, I'd be happy to sing my lungs out more conveniently.

Thursday's entirely unfeasible for us, but definitely up for another night.

No can do on a weeknight. Weekend (saturday) would be much better. But it depends on the date.

LSP- are you guys going full on or general admish? Are you ticketed already?

Saturdays are the 13th, 20th and 27th. Anyone thoughts?

No ticket yet. But I love those discussion panels, so despite the slew of people unable to attend on a weeknight, I'll be there.

Suck! Mark, I can't be there-- I have to work tonight. I'm so sorry! (And bummed. It better just be a Sherman brother; if there's anybody else I'll pout and pout.)

Aww, ok. Sorry you can't go. I guess I won't either. Oh well.

um, then may I sheepishly ask if anyone's interested in a substitute outting, sans Sherman Brother and (oh god, please don't tell me Julie Andrews showed up or I'll knife myself)??

This weekend or next perhaps?

Do I dare admit I've never seen Marry Poppins?

Oh wait, I just did.

I've still never seen Mary Poppins and I own the DVD.

Heheh, I've never watched the DVD I purchased. I'm trying to get over the fawlty display ratio issue. Hmmm, it'll be interesting to see what image ratio they use at the El Cap.

But I've seen Mary Poppins dozens of times .... the first during its original 1964 run at Radio City Music Hall. Some people say it drags in the third act - and it does take a dark and slowing turn there. Yet, that's a mere quibble to detract from one of the best movie musicals ever made ... and Walt Disney's most famous and successful live action picture is a true classic worth seeing on the silver screen.

Ooooh, and who can resist a sing-along?!?!

Ooooh, and who can resist a sing-along?!?!

You know, it's the sing-along that's the biggest deterrent for me to see it. If I want to see the movie I want to hear Julie Andrews.

Well, Poppins has had dozens of theatrical re-releases. This one adds an element of incredible fun. If you haven't been to a sing-along movie, it's hard to imagine just how much fun it is.

But it is.

Next weekend. Saturday or Sunday, whichever gets the most votes in the next few days.
