Hmm, what exactly are we seeing in this video?

http://www.nbc4.tv/news/10694676/detail.html

I've watched it a few times. It looks to me like Tigger is reacting to something the kid is doing with his left hand as he puts it around Tigger's shoulders. And the "hit" seems to be a miner accidental brush of the face was Tigger turns to stop the brat from pinching him, or whatever he was doing.

Considering the stories I've heard, it's a wonder we don't hear about more of these punks getting the back of a furry hand to the head.

Brat kid.

Add to that, how awkward it must be in that costume and what could the Tigger actually see? The 'slap' is more like an accident swap of the hand.

Brat kid, no doubt. Can anyone read what logo is on his t-shirt? I can't make it out...

Why is it always Tigger that gets in trouble? And yeah, totally not Tigger's fault.

Majorly brat kid, although he looks like a teen to me. It definitely looks like Tigger is reacting to something we can't see behind his back. Poor Tigger!

Brat kid perhaps...or set up by the whole family. The Dads reaction on the video seems a tad staged to me.

I don't have sound at work, so I haven't heard dad's reaction.

It looked like a defensive move by Tigger to me. Notice how he immobilized the kids (probably) offending arm before cuffing the head. It didn't even look like he hit very hard. The teen wasn't moved very far backwards. Plus, he's got those squishy paws. Not that I think Tigger did the most appropriate thing. I'm sure costumed characters have to deal with worse than a pinch behind the back, or whatever, but he or she was probably caught off guard and reacted without thinking.

Is it possible the kid was trying to undo the costume? That would make a bratty kid-approved photo moment...

To me, it looked like Tigger was up against the mini fence and started to fall.

I saw it on TV, and thought it looked as though the kid did something. Also, I noticed the kid continued to smile and was not shocked by Tigger's reaction. So I think the kid expected a reaction from Tigger- because he was guilty of something. And the fact that the family was filming at that very moment is suspisious.

It looks like Tigger was set up.

Just to play devil's advocate ... it looks like Tigger is smiling after the incident, as well.

I liked the comment from the kid:

How hard were you hit?

"Well I could feel it".

Doh!

From the way tigger wrapped the kids arm I'd say tigger was off balance (possibly from the kid pulling him) and was just trying to recover. Given the way the kid reacted I'd say this is a total non-incident.

You know, now that I look at the video one more time, I think tigger is a hero!

It's the kid that went off balance. He reaches behind tigger, tigger turns towards him and he starts to fall over. Tigger reaches across (just slightly brushing the kids face) and stops the kid from falling over. What a load of crock this family is.

Nevermind that as soon as Tigger starts to turn, the teen has his arm cocked and fist clenched and gives Tigger one to the head himself.

Man do I hope this ends with this family getting nothing.

I don't know. Part of me would like to be able to tell my kids, "No, we can't stand in that line. Tigger hits."

Aren't Tiggers made out of rubber?

I think the kid was doing something . . . bratty. Just look at that teenageer's IthinkIamsocool smirk on his face before Tigger stoppedwhatever.

Haven't watched the video but they were teasing it a lot on the local Orlando news on Saturday.

I just assumed that the kid did something he wasn't supposed to do. That said, if the person in Tigger retaliated at all, they should be fired or reassigned to a position with no interaction with the public.

Yes, people do really rude things to the costumed characters (and even non-costumed CMs) but you don't get to retaliate. Life's not fair sometimes.

Life's not fair sometimes. In the video, it doesn't look like Tigger retaliated so much as made a move to separate him/herself from the kid and in doing so, accidentally made incidental contact with the kid's head. You can't see if the kid is doing something painful, or just reaching for the costume's zipper or something, but I don't see anything more than an attempt to disengage from the guest.

Then odds are nothing will come of it.

In Orlando they hyped it all day in their news teaser. So we stayed up to watch the local news (and I don't even watch the local news for my own local) and when the story came it was:

"Dad said hours later that Tigger assaulted his kid. They haven't answered our calls, nor have they turned over the video. But do you remember that a couple years ago we got to make a lot of jokes about Tigger when he was accused (and acquitted) of groping some woman. We'll show you video of that."

Literally (that's for you Jennie), if presented with the opportunity to eradicate local news programs or child rape from the planet I would have to think for a few moments.

I'd feel bad for all those raped children, but at least we'd never hear "is breathing killing you right now? More at 11" again.

I have serious douts that Tigger hit that kid at all. Look at the film again: the childs head goes back and to the left. Slow the film down and look at it frame by frame -- back and to the left, back and to the left. Entirely inconsistent to that sort of thwacking. Ask me and I say, that dog don't hunt!

We have to ask ourselves -- who would benefit from this child being thwacked by a man in a tiger outfit?

Figure that out and we have our answer.

Are you implying that we, the viewers, would order this particular Tigger hit?

Why, I am outraged at the mere suggestion....oh, looky- there goes Mark Foley!

Jeez...

That's right. It would have to be a magic paw to cause that. Someone else must have been on that small grass knoll behind tigger.

My bet is on Tinkerbell. She's small, fast and likes to cause trouble.

I think the kid was trying to get to Tigger's zipper or maybe try to get the head popped up.

Tigger's catlike reaction was to claw the joker's face to ribbons but was thwarted by being de-clawed prior to entry into Pooh Corner.

Also....

If you look closely at the video you can see that Tiggers paw is a bit loose on him. If the glove don't fit, you must acquit.
