I hate posting all these R.I.P. notices...
Not only was he a fantastic pedal steel guitar player (he was a member of the Flying Burrito Brothers), but he was also a special effects wiz, beginning with George Pal classics like The 7 Faces of Dr Lao, and continuing through The Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 1 and 2.

I had never heard of him, but I do take a special pride when anyone dies in my town. Especially if it's of natural causes.
Sounds like he had an interesting and varied career, though.
This makes four in a row that I hadn't heard of (or, more likely, hadn't remembered having heard of) until they died.

Not to rain on someone else's death thread, but you've never heard of Yvonne DeCarlo???
BTW, should we just have a perpetual miscellaneous celebrity death thread? It's worked out well for politics and movies so far.
I'd heard of the Munsters (but only seen two episodes in my life that I recall), but if you said "hey! that's Yvonne DeCarlo" then I'd not have a clue who was being talked about.
The only actor from the show I could name was <mumble mumble> Lewis but only because he ran for mayor of New York.
More accurate would be to say that was four in a row where I had no idea who the person was by name. And until I looked in the thread didn't know if Lily Munster was the adult woman or the daughter on the show (and now that I think about I'm not sure if the normal daughter was on The Munsters or The Addams Family).

That was Al "Strangler" Lewis, who played Grandpa. The normal niece, Marilyn, was on The Munsters. She was played for most of the run by Pat Priest. Pat Priest currently has cancer, so stay tuned.
