We had a great time seeing the Oscar shorts last year, I'd be up for doing that again - and classic Bond in the theaters - heck I'd see them all if I lived closer.

Of course, I've just finished something of a Bond marathon at home, having watched 10 of them in the last week or so.
But, hmmmm, I'd love to see some of them at the movies. Hmmmmmmmm.

I'm free as a bird in February. I hope I don't stay that way though.

Well, at least I now have plans for the first Friday and Saturday.
The middle weekend is jammed with birthdays and a wedding. And we need to cram a swanking in there somewhere.
Keeping in mind that February's the shortest month. :p

Aww, I prefer the live and animated short films to the documentary ones. But rest assured I'll be researching and posting a thread when they come to light.

Rockin'! We definitely have to go to see them on the only weekend day they're playing-- Feb. 24. They're my favorite movie outing of the year.
iSm, do you get screeners of those? If not, you have GOT to come see them with us. GC too. All of you!

I wanna go to!

No, I don't get short screeners. Are they really that worth seeing? If so, I'll happily attend.
I don't think I've ever seen any of the short films nominated for Oscars.

Oh man, I LOVE shorts. There's something to be said for being able to express a brilliant idea succinctly (maybe because I'm incapable of doing that and ramble on incessantly and I'm jealous).

You've never seen them? You must come! Truly my favorite moviegoing experience of the year. At least one of the ones I saw at an Oscar shorts night turned out to be the best film I saw all year (ten-minute running time notwithstanding.) The quality varies from year to year (per Tom... I've only seen it twice.) Two years ago was peak, last year less-so, but they're always really great for a discussion-- and unlike long movies, if you don't like one, just wait another five minutes and it'll be over.
I still find myself thinking of some of the ones we've seen-- we have been amassing copies of our favorites so that we can host a short film night at chez Todi Mooers.

Sooooo, Feb 24th at the Egyptian? Anyone up for the Docs a the Aero?
We saw the Animated Shorts last year and it was a fantastic experience.
Maybe we should have a separate thread.

Yes, a separate thread is in order for Shorts at the Egyptian ... unless we change the title of this thread to reflect both theaters.
I think I'm more partial to the non-doc shorts at the Egyptian than the doc shorts at the Aero ... but perhaps I'll do both. But Friday and Saturday at the Aero for Bond is a done-deal for me!

Unfortunate word from my ex-Lowry employee pals is that the Aero is not getting restored James Bond prints after all. They will be showing "best available" - and I have no idea what that means.
Hmmm, I'm still certainly going Friday night. Thunderball and You Only Live Twice are the only Connerys I don't own on DVD. I want to see them.

I've in a call to Andrew at AC about the Shorts program. I'm thinking an outing to see these should be our February Swanking. I'll post more when I get details.
Start thinking about other destinations we can visit in the area. I've been wanting to experience sunset from the Yamashiro Lounge.

I got a message on my MySpace re: the Bond films this week. It says the prints are new. ???
Sadly, looks like I'll miss 'em. CHICAGO is playing on Friday night, sooo... :)
