Ghoulish Delight

The I that I am is not the I that is me
The I that is me is of both hemispheres
The left is home, familiar and calm
The right is the summer cabin, inviting but unfurnished
The I that is me lives in the left, vacations in the right.
The I that I am inhabits every space between my ears.
Reconcile the left and the right
The logic and the fancy
the superstition and the practicality
The I that is me is both romantic and crass
The romantic gives selflessly, wanting only company
The crass takes what I want and wants flesh and control
The I that is me lets the heart outrank the flesh
The I that I am desires both a partner and a piece of ass
Reconcile the beauty and the profane
The Adoration and the lust
The Chaste and the slut
The I that is me wants both stability and change
The stable is thankful for all that I've earned
The anxious sees bigger and better at every turn
The I that is me either rests on my laurels or shifts into gear
The I that I am enjoys what I have while expanding my range
Reconcile the restless and the content
The ambition and the sloth
The need and the want
The I that is me exists within myself and without
Within, I am a bundle of choice and want and self-image
without, I am a mask that only hints at the truth
The I that is me hides in the corner, wishing for courage
The I that I am protects the I that is me with the filter of self-doubt
Reconcile the public and the private
The hermit and the socialite
The honest and the polite
The I that I am is not the I that is me
Reconcile who I am and who I think I am and who you think I am
The I that I am reckons I'm all three.
The I that is me is of both hemispheres
The left is home, familiar and calm
