I’m not sure who did this edit, but here’s the cool Sun Ra Arkestra version of “Pink Elephants on Parade” synchronized with footage from Dumbo. Cool!

I find it wonderfully serendipitous that this was posted on the day that the MPAA announced changes in the rating system that include allowing presentation of similar scenes from prior movies to make the case for a lower rating. If someone tried to make a scene like that today for an animated film for kids* that scene would likely be deemed to be "promoting alcohol abuse" or some rot and never made for fear of missing that G or PG rating. In theory and hopefully in practice (though I'm not holding my breath), one could now say, "Dude, Dumbo getting drunk didn't bring down society, I think it's cool."

Again, not holding my breath on that one, but it's at least a modicum of progress that they're acknowledging the need for change.

That was really really cool to watch, Jesse you rule for finding that (and several other reasons I'm sure).

Please insert usual "But the early films weren't really 'aimed' at kids the way today's animated films are..." discussion/debate
