Winter hasn't been here very long and I'm already tired of it. I'm interested in suggestions for interesting, relatively inexpensive places to go for a long weekend getaway, preferably somewhere warm.

I realize it's probably too late at this point, but I would like to go somewhere over President's Weekend.

Feel free to share you favorite vacation spots that are easily reachable from JFK and environs.

Apologies to those who have already read this elsewhere.

Well, I always wanted to go here (http://www.mohonk.com/) and never did. And when I am in Italy in 2008, I'll be here (http://www.termedisaturnia.com/) for a day or two

Well, I always wanted to go here (http://www.mohonk.com/) and never did. I was looking at that today too! It looks fabulous. Unfortunately, the availability appears to be limited on weekends. Too many NYC refugees, I suppose.

How far did you want to go?Not too far. I'm looking at a weekend trip so as to not have to use vacation days.

Personally I'd head for foxwoods resort (http://www.foxwoods.com/)but I expect that's just me.

How about Atlantis (http://www.atlantis.com/flash.aspx)? They always seem to have some specials running.

You might be able to get a good deal at Universal Florida (http://www.universalorlando.com/usf_index.html?__source=googl&s_kwcid=universal%20orlando%20studios|714161401)/ Islands of Adventure

For a more layback getaway, Charleston, SC is always nice. It's not quite swimming weather but still not too bad for a nice walk/run along the beach plus the restraunts and history are some of the best in the country.

I suggest a nice stay at the Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge the weekend of February 23-25. ;)

I suppose the options in my first post are all too far away.

Humm, closer to NY, warm...

Well me mum always said "It ain't cold if you're having fun."

How about a trip to a ski resort?

Niagara Falls in the winter time can be quite spectacular and a lot less crowded.

Again it's not too warm but I once suggested Captian Jacks (http://www.capnjacks.com/)in another thread and I still think it looks swell. (is a four hour dive too much?)

Atlantic city? (oops, that's just me again....)

Hmm this time of year, most of my suggestions are out the window. Do you ski? If so then vermont is worth hitting up.

Otherwise, Boston is a close shot and is still fun in the cold.
