Okay, so....

I came across this new t.v. show a while back. I have become addicted to it.

Is anyone else watching it? It had been on Friday nights but now is on Thursday nights on ABC 10 p.m..

It is light and fun.

And, on tonight. If anyone watches it, or, watches it tonight, come back and post an opinion.

I didn't want to like it - Anne Heche gets on my nerves. But yet I've put it on my dvr list and keep waching it. It's really just light fun.

I have to agree~ Anne Heche was the reason I did not want to watch it. But, I have to admit, I like her character. What pissed me off is that she got hooked up with that hot guy. And, that it seems he doesn't comb his hair. That gets me.

{I know, I know, he is supposed to be a 'He' man, not concerned with such things...but come on!}

And darn that I don't have a DVR. I know I am going to be buying this DVD set when it comes out....

I like it because it is fun and light.

I was watching this when it was on Friday nights and I enjoyed it. I did have a little trouble with it being such an inside out version of Northern Exposure which is one of my all time favorite shows. Now that it's on Thursdays past my bedtime I'll have to wait for the DVD.

I guess I am lucky {in that sense} because I never watched N.E.

Thursday nights are hard for me, too. I actually was worried I was worried I was going to fall asleep so I took the Hubster up on a coffee with an extra shot....and, I am off tomorrow.

I was looking at an old issue of 'Self' magazine and I saw a few of her wardrobe pieces....

It definitely got better after the first couple of episodes, IMHO. I'm glad I kept it on my Tivo list.

Ok here's my question, cause I missed a few episodes in the middle. What does Ben do besides own the Chieftan? That house is huge, he must have some other income.

I love Jane and Sam. They're so opposites which makes it so much fun.

MouseWife

I am very glad to see that at least a few of you guys watch it too.

I, personally, sit all alone here watching it. I have tried to get my daughter to watch it but, alas, not her style.

I like the way they are fixing Patrick.

I won't say more so that those who are waiting for DVR or DVD can be surprised.

Boy, I sure missed you but a second!

Ben won the lottery. I think that came out in one of the first episodes.

I also love Jane and Sam. I am glad, after their NY adventure, they still are together. He is so sweet. And my goodness, I guess she has a high tolerance to cold. :D

Ahh see I knew it had to have been explained somewhere. I went back through the synopsis on their website but they're pretty brief.

That's what I was thinking - wow isn't Jane freezing her booty off?

See, I missed the part about the commercial, unless the only way it came up was when he was watching t.v.?

I also thought the couple that showed up was going to have something to do with the soap opera Ben watches.....

I am so glad they are manning up Patrick.

*sigh* and, I couldn't help myself but to watch one of the tabloid t.v. shows.....seems they are trying to say/not to say Anne Heche and James Tupper {if I have that correct} are hooking up and she is seperated from her hubby.

I watched half an episode and it was so bad that I haven't paused the other couple of times I've stumbled upon it.

That's not a fair sampling but with how little I watch TV that's all most shows get.

MouseWife

Oh, so I see 'Alex Stroup' as a poster to 'Men In Trees' and I am like 'Wow, I wonder what he would have to say about this show....

LOL

Yeah, sounds about right.

It isn't a show that is going to win awards for content, that is for sure.

It does remind me of a 'Bridgett Jones Diary' or one of the many books I've read written by a woman with a humorous twist on things. Kind of like how 'The Wonder Years' was from a boys 'coming of life' sort of deal, but, from a woman who has been cheated on and decides to change her life. So, she is coming to life again, finding herself. I find it refreshing. I love to see how she finds her strengths as well as her weaknesses.

Um. Yes. I know the whole story. I really like it. I like how in the beginning she was being defeated left and right {but it was done in a humorous way} but chose to stick it out. She is finding herself and her strengths by sticking it out. That I am glad to see.

No quitting!

Alaska, where the odds are good but the goods are odd.

Is that how it goes? :D

Alex

To be fair to the show, I had seen absolutely no publicity for it so I didn't know (and still don't except for this thread) what the premise was. All I saw was a group of people talking in a bar or restaurant about bad hair days.

I didn't even know the name of the show until this thread mentioned Anne Heche. In fact, she was the reason I stopped on the channel at all, I was busy thinking to myself ("wow, actual evidence that actors don't actually cease to exist at the moment nobody cares about them anymore").

But that 10-15 minutes, taken out of context of the show's premise was horrible so I haven't been back.

MouseWife
01-28-2007, 03:25 PM
You are right, some of the banter is quite silly. But, yes, the premise is city girl and people who don't give such a crap.

There was even a deal about Anne Heches' sister coming out {big City Girl} and giving one of the women a pair of 'must have' high heeled shoes. The woman then twisted her ankle. Too used to wearing boots. Of course.

Yes, what has Anne Heche been up to? Besides this, I mean.

I am glad, since people sort of may have quit thinking about her {since her stunt in Fresno and her time with Ellen DeGeneres} that she still has a career. That says good things about her and our acceptance as a society.

Don't you think?

But, I still don't think this is a show for you. :p

The commercial showed while Ben and Patrick were watching the Korean Soap. I thought the couple that showed up might have something to do with the soap as well.

MouseWife
01-28-2007, 07:47 PM
Oh, that must have been when I was in the kitchen myself....

What I don't get is why they made the house she bought so 'unliveable'. There was a woman living in it, right?

I love the area they show. I love the view she gets from her deck/house.

I loved the show where I believe they were celebrating the Solstice. The candles they put on the water? Beautiful.

katiesue
01-28-2007, 07:59 PM
I don't think the house was "unlivable" to someone who'd been living in a cabin in the woods with an outhouse for years. I think they were saying she needed to upgrade it a bit to her standards before moving in.

MouseWife
01-28-2007, 08:07 PM
That is true, someone with her lifestyle.

I guess I was assuming the woman was living in it with a working bathroom, etc.

And true, it probably was pretty run down. Believable. I know some people who don't do anything to their homes, at all. We actually almost rented a house in 96 that was done up like the Brady Bunch and paisley gone wild.

I enjoy this show reminds me of Northern Exposure in a away.

MouseWife
02-01-2007, 12:37 PM
Hey CrazyLegs! Glad to see you like it, too. :)

So. Being that it is Thursday I thought I'd post and remind y'all that it is on tonight and I do believe a new show? Although, in this case, I won't mind it when they go back to the first show and rerun from there. I hope they do it that way and not bounce around.

And, glad I don't work tomorrow. I missed 'The Medium' because I worked yesterday, ran around doing a lot of errands and crashed on the couch right after the first 15 minutes.

Did anyone see The Medium last night???? It started out really interesting...

Alex
02-01-2007, 12:53 PM
I saw it. It was an ok episode but nothing gangbusters. Of course, I'm so tickled with the beating that media psychics are taking right now (courtesy Sylvia Browne) that part of me is somewhat hoping to wash Mrs. Dubois crash and burn on the show too.

(It is odd, but while I consider the real Allison Dubois to be a scamming malignant force of evil, I do enjoy the show with the fictional Allison Dubois.)

MouseWife
02-01-2007, 01:59 PM
True, aren't the 'psychics' getting it lately?

And, I am going by what I heard about what Sylvia Brown said in the case of Shawn Hornbeck and another kidnapped victim.

But darn it, I can't believe I fell asleep. Those little dolls looked pretty close to them {for dolls}. I fell asleep right after the father was killed and she was left alone in the room with the doll. Unless the DA threatening the psychic was after.

Oh, do please tell, what happened with the talking doll and then did Allison contact the DAs daughter? Wow, what he said to the wife when he came back and found her with the psychic....

Anywho, saw a commercial and it is a new show tonight.

MouseWife
02-02-2007, 09:01 AM
Well, from what I saw, the show was great as usual. Jane is a wonderful addition.

I am going to check the ABC site, right after the show it says you can watch the whole program again on their site?

Of course, that is the time everyone comes home {from Disneyland, work, to cuddle on the couch....} and there are conversations to be had....

CrazyLegs
02-03-2007, 07:10 PM
I recorded the show so I can skip the commercials :) I love my DVR

MouseWife
02-04-2007, 01:28 AM
LOL Get this, my kids have DVR but we don't!!!

So, I just try and watch as best I can.

Wow, cool about the DVR you can save the show for as long as you want to, right?

Drince88
02-04-2007, 07:46 AM
I just caught up on about 3 episodes. I think 2 love-triangles is enough for one show, but I'm glad to see that the two with Jerry (I'm horrid with names)are being grown up about it and it looks like it might not be an issue any more.

And the proposal stuff was pretty amusing.

And yes, MouseWife, you can keep them as long as you want on a DVR (I'm assuming generic DVRs are like my Tivo), but depending on the size of the drive, you can run into space issues.

MouseWife
02-04-2007, 11:06 AM
I have to agree, I hope they don't stretch the love triangles any more and just deal more with stories of all of the current characters. Well, I guess bringing in people doesn't hurt but they don't always have to be romantic with someone.

Cool about the DVR. With those devices, are you able to burn it to a DVD if you have a recorder?

katiesue
02-04-2007, 02:41 PM
I think you can burn to DVD - I can tape mine to VCR (don't have a DVD recorder) so I don't see why not.

I love it - never miss shows I like and gives me time to watch a lot of other shows I might not see. I still have to watch this weeks episode.

MouseWife
02-05-2007, 09:37 AM
I like being able to control my watching. I used to video tape my soap and loved being able to cut through commercials and plots that bored me.

I think I might go back to doing this. I hate that even though I have a lot of choices to watch my soap, I still have to watch it at their time.

I wanna go to Elmo. {isn't that it? I always think I am hearing it wrong...}

MouseWife
02-09-2007, 12:09 AM
Okay....who watched?

The mouse story was funny...start to finish....

CrazyLegs
02-09-2007, 02:15 AM
I watched it :)

It was good one they brought the new guy on :)

katiesue

I went to bed early so it's on the DVR for tonight's viewing.

MouseWife
02-09-2007, 10:22 AM
I also like the new guy. I thought I couldn't handle any more characters but hello Betty!!{or am I supposed to say Chuck or something like that?} this guy is a hottie and worthy of brainspace. :D

Oh, katiesue, have you seen last weeks episode yet? Makes me want to zip my lips!!

Um...spoilers? No peeking!!!

So much happened on last nights show. Bens son? Wow there. Oh, those who haven't seen the show will hate the end of it last night...broke my heart. Her gift? Don't you think her reaction was too much? I am like her but I think I wouldn't have reacted like that. It was funny but she is a classy lady. Love her clothes. Darn but I do.

And, I have to say, something that bugged me about the show where {and I am sorry I am horrible with kids names} when Lynne came back it seemed like everyone forgot how much of a friend Marin was to them and sort of like told her to not worry about her and just go for Jack. Now, if it were his kid I'd understand more but it isn't. I guess it just rubs me the wrong way when they turn out the newbies that way.

I am glad I stayed awake to see it. I've been falling asleep every night early...

Okay, not really great spoilers, Barbara Walters I am not but it would still not be wise to read it yet...

katiesue
02-13-2007, 08:41 PM
Ok I'm all caught up. Jane has to get back with Sam. I love them. Why can't they work it out? He did facials for goodness sakes, and let her drive the boat.

I don't like Lynne either. It's just a kind of weird storyline. And with a kid involved he can't just dump her or he's a jerk.

I'm moving to Elmo immediately. Perhaps I can find a date there??

MouseWife
02-17-2007, 12:21 AM
OH gosh, didn't that tear you up at the end of that show??? I mean, yes, he did all he could to please her. And,last nights show, well, I'd love them back together.

The Jack deal....the end of the show last night. What she said. Exactly.

I won't post any spoilers but if anyone else watched and wants to I will be back. And, katiesue when you get caught up, too, let me know!

Oh and damnit, will it not be on next week or something? They didn't do a preview.....

katiesue
02-17-2007, 10:19 AM
I'm caught up. I loved poor Patricks trip to meet the in-laws. The engagement party/intervention.

Poor Merrin. Jack was kind of an ass, but then again they're just friends and it's an ackward situation so I'm not sure he had to tell her first anyway.

And Patrick's Mom's doing his charts and planning the wedding.

MouseWife
02-17-2007, 11:26 PM
I was afraid for Patrick! And too funny {well, sad too} about Jane and the brother. LOL and it was the champagne that Patrick brought! Well, how would he know???

Yeah, Jack was kind of an ass but I think that she {and me!} expected more because right before Jane came back, remember, he said he was falling in love with her. {remember the message on her phone? That was sad when she finally got her phone and how things had changed sooo much so quickly}.Marin was the one who let him go. After Jane told her they'd kissed. I am glad she didn't sleep with her houseguest. I mean, why should she have all the fun? Kidding!!! I just think it is better she didn't.

Glad you are all caught up!

Why do you think they didn't show previews? I will have to go and find out...I forgot I can probably check the website....

Forgot - love the new pastor. He's very cute.

MouseWife

Oh man, wasn't that something? The comments she made prior to realizing it was 'his' church?

Too bad. She seemed quite happy to be dating him. I always wonder what will happen if she runs in to old clients....Either in front of her child or a new love interest.

Oh, the Oscars. Forgot about those. Thanks for letting me know. :snap:

02-19-2007, 10:40 AM
Oh and what papers did she get served with right at the end?

MouseWife
02-19-2007, 10:59 AM
Oh yes, I wonder about that!

Will they bring the kids' father back in to the picture, fighting for custody? I mean, even the cop {gawd, I suck with names} knew what she was up to. She held shop in the Inn, where Patrick works, how could she not?

Is there something else it could be?

MouseWife
03-02-2007, 12:25 AM
Well, I tried to pay better attention but life gets in the way.

Ah, so I was wrong {see, the first few shows I really wasn't paying close attention...sort of like the end of tonights show which I missed}. It wasn't the lottery but moist towelettes. Is he old enough to be the one who invented those??? Come on, I used them as a kid!!! Remember those 2 pc. meal deals from KFC? Always had a moist towelette. {that just looks misspelled...}

I loved the JCPenny commercial where the people are acting little bits from movies.

Growing up with so many musicals {singing in the rain, Shirley Temple} my sis and I used to love to done our boots, grab an umbrella and go arm and arm out singing in the rain. Day or night.

And stairs? Oh, to dance up and down those!!!

Oh, I digress. I missed the end of the show. Didn't she have some sort of realization with the racoon?
