Just wondered if anyone saw Bride and Prejudice -- Morrigoon and I did last nite :) it's a retelling "inspired" (obviously) by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, but set mostly in India. It was directed by Gurinder Chadha who did that kickass "Bend it Like Beckham" movie :)

The movie was told in a mesh of Hollywood and Bollywood style, with cute (but not very memorable) musical numbers and some top notch performances. Aishwarya Rai (I think that's her name) in the title role is amazingly beautiful and talented. For some reason she reminded Morrigoon and I of Kirstie Alley before Kirstie let herself go.

ANYWAY, I am not a big Jane Austen kinda person and I really did enjoy the film, even if it did start to drag plotwise about half an hour before it ended.

On a side note, the director has really really good taste in men -- Martin Henderson (as Mr. Darcy) and Daniel Gillies (as Mr. Wickham)are both way hot AND appear shirtless, lol. (Tho Jonathan Rhys-Meyers from "Bend It" is still hotter). What can I say, I am easily amused by boytoys....

I didn't know it was in wide release yet! I haven been looking forward to this film for a while and had the change to see a screening last week, but didn't take it. Damn, that movie list is still too long!

I've been dying to see it! The star has made every "gorgeous girl" list in the universe, too! She is beautiful and I've seen enough snippets of the movie to know that it's right up my alley.

It's not here yet (of course), but I emailed a movie critic at the Oregonian last week and he said not to expect it for two weeks. So I'm hoping either this weekend or the next. If I'm lucky.
