Was gassing up my new Range Rover Sport today, to find that someone clipped it last night. This is why I don't park my good cars near other cars in parking lots. Good thing it wasn't my Lightning or my Saleen or I would be going postal right now.

GRRRRR.

Of course no note or anything. I actually believe it happened out at a Pub last night with Euro, GC and NA. Nothing I can do about it really except writhe in hate and agony.

Get. My. Gun.

this is why I advocate putting the first one in yourself. just grab a hammer and dink it somewhere. the rest dont feel nearly so painful.

Saleen and a Lightning? omg, another car guy in LoT? :snap:

Another car guy? I'm the original car guy on lot.

I can't say I agree with your hammer method though. All of my other cars are perfectly damage free. There were a few scratches on my LR3 from off-roading, but that is more of a well worn battle scar.

Wern't you at Costco before publand?

If I remember correctly, you were parked next to the handicap slot on one side. Do you remember any drunk, handicap people who shouldn't have been driving? I'm surprised we didn't hear a crunch in the restaurant.

Whatever happened, that's not very thoughtful to not even leave a note.

Yeah but it happened on the other side I believe. Yeah I was at costco, but also got a couple gallons of gas so I would have seen it then. Also, I pulled front in to the spot at the pub, which is unusual for me. The damage only could have occured had I pulled front in.

That's how I narrowed it down to Dirty Nelly's.

What a pisser.

I also try and take good care of my car. I try and park, not way out there in the lot, but, rather in a spot where it would have the least foot and car traffic. I've been lucky.

What a nice car you have. Sorry that it was dinged.

Man, I want a gun to get the person stealing my Mickey antenna balls{yes, plural}...If I catch 'em: "Your head or his????" {my son said that is overkill but you know the old eye for an eye....}

I have no control over other drivers and there are a lot more of those bastards than me. And car bodies/paint are fragile things. That's why I don't really bother investing myself all that much in my car, all it takes is one dumb fvcker.

Of course I say that and meanwhile it was me who gouged my Mazda myself :(

Capt Jack

JB Weld that sucker on the end of the antenna. you'll never lose it...nor will it ever....EVER come off. even if you wanted it to. :P

I bought my Volvo with a scratch already installed. It's worked wonders!

I'm very much not a car guy. So long as it isn't absolutely awful to look at (xB; PT Cruiser; the latest Mustangs) and and reliably gets me where I'm going I don't much care about it.

So that has made the slow accumulation of dings pretty non-traumatic. Though we have one on the front right corner panel that for the life of me I can't figure out how it happened short of direct intent.

My Exploder (just for you NM) made great friends with the wall of my car port several months before I decided to sell it.

It wasn't the deciding factor in trading it in for my 3 but it helped. Good thing I don't get attached to inanimate objects like stuffed animals or anything bull****. Now I feel guilty.

I have to say this, because my daughter has a PT Cruiser.

Gawd, I thought they were yucky. I was given chances to win one {via a drawing} and I passed. {that is a lot considering I enter a ton of contests and I needed a new car sooo desperately, but, I guess, not that desperately}.

So, years down the road, my daughter informs us that the car she has decided upon buying is, indeed, the PT Cruiser. I kept quiet and tried to suggest other cars. Nope. This was it. Or a 1940 some type of car or an old hearse!!! PT Cruiser it was.

But, hers is cool! I have found the backseat to be so comfortable and it is fun to drive, too. But, hers is cool. It is all black with black tinted windows, a bit of chrome, and, a big black bat on the windshield.

Recently we saw the HRs and my husband said they were ugly. They remind me of those old pick ups or whatever that have a cover on the back? Like a paddywagon? {forgive me car buffs if I am slaughtering whatever they are called}. So, an old car. And, I saw an old car and it looked like the PT Cruiser so I guess that is why my daughter likes it.

Someone wasn't paying attention when they backed our car out of the garage and they whacked the passenger side mirror right off the car. That someone was *not* me, but he pretended it was when he took it in for repair so the guys wouldn't hassle him.

Holy crap! That freakin' sucks.
Now I'm wondering if those crazy guys we saw from the table had anything to do with it. Hmmmm.

That old car would be a packard. I think the PT Cruiser looks like the old Packard. Except the faux-woodies, which look like a cross between a Packard and a Woody.

(no NM, KB... not THAT woody!)

I take decent care of my Blazer. Especially when it was under warrenty. I made sure it got its checkups every 2500-3000 miles. I paid it off over a year early. Made sure the front end was rebuilt before the warrenty expired. I came out of Toys R Us one day to find a gash in the paint on the driver's side. I know when where and who. It was a pissy lady with 5 kids who was blocking 3 parking spots. I had the nerve to ask her (nicely) to move the shopping cart so we could pull in. I know it was her.

I hate it when crap happens to my car, crap that is out of my control.

My car is paid for and I no longer care how it looks. That is until that seagull bombed my windshield last Friday. I got my car washed and then it rained. I'm not sure why I bothered.

I had no one to blame for my car's first bit ding but me.

Ugh, the same bastard was responsible for the next two also.

Ah, the bliss of it not mattering any more.

Then again, my cars are not my babies .... so I feel for ya, NirvanaMan.

Got home last night to find that a member of the cleaning service I use walked through dog $hit and tracked it throughout the house. Smelly spots all over the carpeting. Lovely. Then they made a weak attempt to cover it up, but never bothered saying anything about it.

Needless to say they are paying for my carpets to be cleaned today afterwich they will be promptly fired.

I had a no good very bad day. :(

And it was supposed to be christmas.

Today isn't looking much better either.

And it was supposed to be christmas. Maybe God is punishing you for putting off Christmas until February. You're throwing off the balance of the universe.

I must share my sad car story. Now - I know that I drive a "Mom" car...er van... with my Pontiac Montana. But it's a lovely dark green and all pretty inside with bells and whistles and a ton better then the sad old van I used to drive.

Came out one morning to find that one of the side doors had been kicked repeatedly and was bent in. I was so sad. I could see the stupid footprints on the side. Not too big - 2 different prints - kids I assume. Stupid damn kids. (Stay off my lawn!)

Even worse was the next night they came back and climbed up the front, up to the windshield and then on top, and then walked to the back and jumped off.

Ever since then I've parked in the driveway. We live in a nice neighborhood. When I lived in a crappy neighborhood this didn't happen... although with the old van maybe it did and I never would have noticed because of it's sorry state.

That is awful. Kids! Or rather, parents!!!

Well, I work in a more affluent area and the kids are awful and have such attitude. They vandalize things throughout the store. They steal.

And, today, while I was picking up {and spending} my check, a fellow co-worker said his car was stolen from the parking lot while he shopped for about an hour and forty minutes {well, a guy? Probably dealing with his check and visiting. Even I finished shopping in about an hour.}

I hope you can have it fixed? It is your car, mom car or not.

Wait a second....I fail to see how those two points are related? Why do you not care how it looks just because you own it?

Good question. I've had so many minor accidents with this car, none my fault, all just cosmetic (though not cheap) damage. I went through all the stuff with the insurance company and the body shop and always had stuff taken care of.

About a year ago, after I'd just gotten the car paid off and passed the 100,000 mile mark, a guy in an SUV backed into the side of my car in the Metro Pointe parking garage (be warned) while I sat in my car watching and trying to figure out where my horn was. Not that honking would have helped. It was like I didn't even exist. He gave me $20 so I could have the damage to the paint buffed out at the car wash. I took his name and number but didn't follow up because it was just too much trouble.

Maybe it has more to do with the 120,000 miles I've put on the car. At this point it's transportation and I don't care what it looks like.

Heck, I can't even see my car in the driveway.

Really? I think they need a disney-like tram for that lot.
