Looks nifty, but I don't expect it to become standard for personal computing any time soon if at all. After all, touch screens have been around for a long time now but you don't see that technology used in personal computing. It's all over for commercial use, but no PCs. Why? I'm not entirely sure. My feeling is that it's a combination of durability issues (higher priced, heavy duty materials are fine for commercial settings, but for the home market it's all about cheap and lightweight. Cheap and lightweight would not stand up to touchscreen abuse) and cleaning issues (are you going to higher someone to come around and wipe the finger prints off your laptop every 30 minutes?). Whatever it is, I see the same fate for this technology.

Unless they adapt it to work with lame looking gloves without actually touching the screen.

For home pc I wouldn't want it because I am not generally close enough to my monitor to make touching it all the time convenient or ergonomic. Same with any other screen I would be spending large amounts of time looking at.

But I can see many, many other uses for it.

I can definitely see it being useful in the creative world or in something like IC design.

Isn't this the technology that Apple bought and patented? I'm looking forward to the iPhone without the phone and a bigger capacity. And I will touch it. A lot.

If they can solve the touch-oil problem, I see some usefulness in portable consumer computing. But most of the major use is going to be strictly commercial. Nothing wrong with that. It's frelling COOL.

And, of course, having the 140" widescreen monitor will make all the difference. ;)

Yeah I have freinds who will touch it a lot just thinking about getting their iphones too.
