View Full Version : Jury Duty - only half the torture it once was

Here I am - serving my jury duty while surfing the web with the provided wireless connection.
It's actually not nearly the torture it was last year without the computer. I'm pleasently suprised. Day off work is nice - just farting around on the intertubes doing absolutely nothign productive!

Well, that's totally cool.
When I get called back into the SF jury pool, I hope to have this option! I do not hold too much hope since, they were still sending jury summons to me 4 years into being a resident of VA, even though I'd told them I moved.
Hope you don't get picked Betty and then have to close your laptop ;)

Haven't been picket yet. Just waiting for word that I can go to lunch or leave for the day. Come on leave-for-the-day!

I was so excited when I found out the courthouse had a wireless connection. And a wired connection. It was only $6 for the day. I waited awhile because I was afraid of Murphy. But it made the day a lot easier.

The wireless is Riverside is free and it works in both juror rooms. It is a bit intermittent though.
And I did get to leave at noon and had a nice afternoon all to myself.

That's what I was going to say. It's bad enough here in San Diego that they don't pay for parking (or provide any) and you don't get paid for the first day either. It shouldn't cost you to do public service.

In OC they pay for parking and the connection is free but you still don't get paid for the first day. I of course got picked for the first jury I was up for and had to serve but only for 2 days.

Yup. It's $6 to obtain internet access period. And there aren't any open connections near the Santa Ana courthouse.
At least parking is free (validation).

I'm off to do my civic duty in the morning. I've got the ipod loaded with the last couple Mousepods I haven't listened to so that should entertain me for the day.
I just realized I packed my magazines, snacks etc in my Alcatraz tote bag. Hmm maybe I should change bags?
