OK - in 2 days (and 11 hours) I will be departing Sydney for a 13.5 hour flight to Los Angeles, at 10:35am on Thursday the 15th March

Movie choices (Video On Demand) on board are:
1 Devil wears prada 1:50
2 casino royale 2:24
3 The Queen 1:37
4 notes on a scandal 1:32
5 little miss sunshine 1:43
6 Borat 1:27
7 The Prestige 2:10
8 black dhalia 2:01
9 happy feet 1:48
10 man of the year 1:54
11 blood diamond 2:18
12 stranger than fiction 1:52
13 dreamgirls 2:00
14 babel 2:12

A total of 26 hours of movies for a 13 hour flight.. I've sorted them into priority for my taste. I don't think I'll be bored. :D

Oh, and they serve Mr & Mrs T Bloody Mary Mix on board, so I'll KNOW I'm on the way to the USA. That stuff is ambrosia !!

Once we get there (at 6am the same Thursday... See we DO time-travel here), we have early (7am) check-in into the Penny Sleeper Inn (Quality Inn & Suites) and we don't have to check out the following day until Midday.

We are thinking of doing a LA By Night type tour, because we can't activate our Disneyland passes yet or they'll be wasted.

Or: We'll stand at the front gates and look through the bars like little lost koala bear waifs.

Or: we might also just have dinner at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, (or Rainforest cafe), build a bear, then catch a movie.

Or: we might just sit at the Uva bar all night.

Who knows, but if anyone's in the vicinity on the evening of the 15th and wants some aussie company and maybe a Vegemite Daquiri or two, look us up.

We have NO cellphone this trip :( but our hotel phone at the Quality Inn is: (714) 991-8100

We'll try to get internet up and running at this stage. Does anyone know of any good offers (free internet access through AOL or similar) we'd need about 7 weeks of it.

Anyhow hope to see you all on your own turf soon !

Hugs,
Rob. (and Lashstoat)

Cool Rob. I think you'd need some rest after the trip, so do whatever is easier on you.

I don't know anything about the internet access, unfortunatly, but hopefully someone else here might. Of course you can always ask at the hotel. We'd like to be able to hear from you. Like a room number at your hotel- I don't think they could connect us if we ask for "Rob Lashbear's room please"!;)

Have a great flight, and enjoy the movies! Most of those are great!

Hope to see you on the first of April! :snap:

Please don't forget to stand up and take a stroll down the length of the plane at least after each movie. We want a happy healthy bear to arrive in California.

You might also want to think about picking up a Tracphone (http://www.tracfone.com/home_page.jsp) for your visit. They are fairly cheap, sold at all your better convenience stores (ie 7/11) and would help you keep in touch with all the masses yearning to keep in touch with you.

Can anyone fill in the details for me.....

Does Disneyland still offer the "shoppers pass" into the park? If I remember correctly you could get a free pass into the park for a few hours as long as you made a purchase or some such....???

Yes. I recently overheard a CM mentioning it to someone. But there were some restrictions that I didn't hear clearly. I believe they basically said that it's not always available and that it's kind of a crap shoot whether they'll let you at any given time. But again, I was eavesdropping so I may have my facts wrong.

Maybe if we stand there and look suitably waif-like.... :D

We can also seduce them with our best "G'day Mate!"

That'll cost less than calling people from the hotel. Or from the Frontierland pay phones. But it's probably more expensive than a candy cell phone. ;)
