I don't want to bust the good mood here so I'll put my comments in a spoiler box. Hmm, I have to say I'm not overly excited. All I could think was WTF am I looking at? A boat in the desert? The British teaming up with a hideous monster? Even more odd fighting scenes?
The worst part is it made sure to remind me of all the letdowns from the last movie, such as the Jack/Elizabeth kiss, Barbossa back to life, and Jack being "killed" at the end.
Sadly, I probably will see this film, just so I can have the right to be annoyed at it. :(

I'm was going to try and out-curmudgeon the board curmudgeons but I just can't do it the way I want to. But, "eh" is what I have to say.

I'm not seeing it till it's out on DVD (unless someone manages to get me a ticket to the Wreck-Disneyland-for-a-Week Opening Spectacular).
I HATED the sequel, and the series has put a an icepick through Walt's dead frozen heart.
So, I'll gladly spoil myself with the preview I would never have watched had I any interest in seeing the film.

See, now that's how a good curmudgeon does it.
Haven't seen the trailer but since I did like the first sequel I'm looking forward to it. It's really the only big sequel this summer I have much interest in (Spider-Man 2 was very disappointing, you all know my feelings on the Potter franchise, and I'm pretty sure a fourth Die Hard movie is extremely unnecessary)
I was invited to the San Francisco "premiere" of the trailer (50 dancing pirates!) but couldn't work up the energy to go even if it did include a big-screen screening of the first movie.

I'm just wondering how Cap'n Jack got out of the plot complication at the end of the second movie. Everything else is superfluous.
Actually, I'm a big fan as well. So I'm looking forward to it, and will be at the Disneyland red carpet as well. I can't help it.

Looks like more of what made Dead Man's Chest meh...
The boat in the sand part looked like something from a Terry Gilliam film, but with all the Terry Gilliam taken out of it.

I could not even finish POTC, Part II. Well, I talked about this in the Misc. Movie Musings thread.
I love Johnny Depp, I LOVE the original ride on which the film was oh so loosely based.
Disney is beating this dead horse to a bloody pulp as far as I'm concerned and Walt is probably spinning in his cryogenic container because of it.
But, I know I'm not raining on your parade, enjoy :D, just not my cuppa tea.

Raiders of the Lost Arc
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Back to the future
Back to the Future Part II
Back to the Future Part III
There is precedence for at least entertaining the possibility that POTC-3 won't be as suckie as POTC-2.

Good point, Moonliner, well taken. But, I will hedge and wait (likely until Netflix brings it my way) before I give this a try.
I'm getting too old to waste time on suckie movies when there are so many good one's I've not seen yet! ;)

Wait, are you saying you like BttF III better than II?
Are you saying you were attracted to Micheal J. Fox in drag?
BttF III was vastly superior to II and yet III still mostly sucked. I was such a disappointed 15 year old that summer.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is one of my favorite popcorn movies. It perfectly captures the spirit of Gunga Din.
Last Crusade just didn't hit me in the same place. Almost as if it took itself too seriously.
Maybe I need to watch it again.

I know what you mean- I LOVE Temple of Doom, but Last Crusade just doesn't connect.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is one of my favorite popcorn movies.
I can't be your friend any longer.
Okay, that's a little harsh, but boy did I hate Temple of Doom. I only half-liked last Crusade, and continue to regard Raiders as the only film in that series I need to own. (Though I don't yet.)
I did like BTTF 3 a little more than the second chapter, but again, only feel the need to revisit the first and I can take or leave the rest.
Pirates 3 had better be better, you bet. Neither of the previous films has managed to engage me fully, by causing me to think or care about the characters after the credits have run. (One of my primary litmus tests on any movie is whether I give a damn an hour, a day or a week later. No go with this series. And no, I don't accept the excuse of "it's a popcorn movie." Many of my favorite movies are.) The first had the advantage of novelty and surprise, plus a funnier script. The second was a chore with a few good bits.
Egads, is it me or does Keira Knightley look like complete hell?! Get that girl to a hospital pronto!
Nah, I am going to wait until the POTC Trailer #4. I haven't heard too many good things about #3 and I was so let down by trailer #2.

I enjoyed both ToD and LC equally - and saw each a gazillion times on cable. Us kids had a million inside jokes for these movies. They are very close to my heart.
Yet I've only seen Raiders once or twice all the way through and don't remember much of it. Yes, you can all unfriend me now.
On the Back to the Future side - II was WAY more entertaining than III for me, even with the crappy non-ending. I hate the train sequence in III.

Really? Oh. So would that imply GD really was just expressing surprise that I preferred III over II and was in fact not making a tacky scarcastic comment about it?

I liked BTTF 3 better than 2. The second one had so much rehash of the first that it was a bit of a let-down. The first time I saw it and he went back to the first movie, it was a cool twist, but it doesn't have as much re-viewing potential for me.
After having my surgery and had all this time to sit and watch TV I finally got the chance to sit and watch all three in a row. I've always wanted to do that.
And yes, I do have all three, as well as all three Indy movies, but only Episode one of the last three Star Wars, but all three of the first set (episode 4, 5, & 6). And I watched them all together when I was laid up. Amazing what you do when you are bed-ridden for a month!
So, do you only watch trailers, and not the movies? ;)
Are you telling me there is more to POTC then the many trailers?
