I'm not sure if anyone here does Netflix, but I have a 'trick' that I learned from a friend of mine.

It's a way to get new release DVDs on Netflix. If you know of a newly released DVD coming out on an upcoming Tuesday, put that DVD title at the top of your queue. It will say 'Not Released Until (date of release)'. The Saturday preceeding that upcoming Tuesday's release, stick your DVD in the mail to be picked up that day. It will get to Netflix and they will mail you the newly released DVD at the top of your queue. Sometimes, it will get to you on Monday, the day before official release! I've tried this several times and they sent me new releases early three times.
I'm not sure if it works for me because I'm closer to San Jose (their mailing location), but it works. At the very least, the new release will get to you on Tuesday. I have always gotten a new release I put at the top of my queue as long as I mailed a DVD to them on a Saturday.
Often, if you miss the initial shipment, you could wait for days and days to get a new release title. This way, you won't have to wait.

ie. I have a copy of 'The Village' in my hands right now. Release date: tomorrow 1/11.

Try it, see what happens.
Good luck.

Woot! Thanks for this tip, G.C. You know how much I like screwing with 'the System.'

I've never tried that. I've sent things in so I get them on Tuesday when they are released. Thanks for the tip! I like new things.

Thanks for the heads up! We're still catching up on ancient history though, so it may be a while before we pull this.

Mental Note: Put swanky movies on Netflix list.

Oh yeah, it's screener season here in L.A., and the screener ban was soooo last year. I've got now-in-theaters stuff to watch on DVD for the foreseeable future, and my 3 netflix choices gather dust and earn the Company some easy money.

It sure is. I watched 'The Incredibles' at my in-laws house on X-mas day.
Sweeeeeet!
