Eek! If anyone's been put thru the torture of "Spiderman Rocks" at Universal, then I weep for the future of this project.

This is beyond retarded...:cakes:

Music by Bono and The Edge!?!?!?! Wow. 'In the naaaame of cash, once more in the name of cash." Well, Sir Elton has done well on the great white way, maybe they will too. (But really, this sounds absurd.)

Still, there was a Superman musical on Broadway in 1966. Anyone remember "It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Superman?" The songs were from Lee Adams and Charles Strouse, the same team who later brought us Annie. There was a televised version of this show in the Seventies, with Leslie Anne Warren as Lois Lane. I tried to watch it, but it was a cheap looking production, shot on primitive video on threadbare sets. I didn't make it through.

Good point, flippyshark. And don't forget that there was a Spider-Man "rock opera" album back in the day as well.

Stranger things have happened...

This actually looks like a strong production team. Although I'm no U2 fan - I'll reserve judgement. Generally a show in the reading stage is like a television pilot: it may or may not ever be seen. This is a pretty high-profile project, though, and sometimes just the names involved can push a show through.

And yes, the Superman musical was abyssmal!

Anyone else ever listened to the Passengers album? Some interesting stuff there, and possibly an indication of what might come from Bono and The Edge.

The whole thing sounds weird to me, but who knows...

I just hope they include the TV theme song.

It's been featured in both movies so far, likely because it's sooooo ingrained with the character in the minds of so many. A musical that neglected this fact would be ... well, a step more retarded than the project already is.
