I've not had a chance to delve deeply here (work sucks today), but I figured a link on LoT would be appreciated nonetheless.

Too cool!
I started with the US sites. I like Kokopelli's Cave (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=389&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=1&RatingId=&PageNo=0&CountryID=) and Hana Lani (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=377&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=1&RatingId=&PageNo=2&CountryID=). OK: there are going to be more, I just don't have time to explore.

Ice Hotel (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=724&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=1&RatingId=&PageNo=0&CountryID=). I know Susan would never go for it, but I would love to experience this.

My parents were just telling me that their friends recently stayed at the one in Sweden (http://www.icehotel.com/).

I wonder how they do the hot tub. It's a very short soak.
I like the idea of a fireplace in an igloo.

I've got to get off this site.
A freakin' CRANE hotel (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=5597&src=home&ClassID=4).
Managers, Willem and Carla have managed to keep the existing observation windows and industrial feel, but have added comfort, warmth and the latest flat screen and audio equipment to create a fantastic environment to enjoy a boyhood dream for many – your own personal, WORKING crane. Even though they’ve fitted a luxury double shower and designer loo the crane can still swirl around controlled from the comfort of the drivers cabin. I get to play with a real working crane?!? I have GOT to go!!!

Heather and I have talked about visiting this Treehouse Hotel in Brazil (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=381&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=&CountryID=24&RatingID=&PageNo=0).
Anyone want to plan a trip? (We're serious.)

Anyone want to plan a trip? (We're serious.)I would honestly love to. However, I suspect that our lives may be heading for some major changes that will not allow commitments like this.

The Propeller Island City Lodge in Berlin, Germany was listed under Fantasy/Theme, so I expected something sexy & romantic.
It looks like it's straight out of The Shining. Which, you know, is kick-ass if that's your whole wedding & honeymoon theme- but I'm thinkin' you might have bigger problems looming at that point. :(
Heehee..that Champagne Glass Whirlpool Bath-For-Two is so hokey, but you know I just love it. My luggage wouldn't even hit the floor before I jumped in. :D
The Ice Hotel has always fascinated me! Very cool! (No pun intended!)
As always, very awesome link, Snowflake! :snap:

Lordy, Snowflake! I, too, am now addicted! :D
I'm also obsessed with the world's freakiest lodge listed in my above post. The Propeller City Lodge in Berlin, Germany.
These two fantasy rooms elicited a "Oh, hell to to the NO" from me:
Prison Cell:
A friendly prison cell with a hole in the wall. The toilet is in the room, just like we know it should be!What's different: You really WANT to stay here, it's extremely comfortable. Freedom awaits on the balcony with a parasol.
Huh?!?! I'm sorry, friends of the Lodge, but NO, I really do NOT WANT to stay here. My large intestine will explode before I partake in toilet action in front of my traveling companions & guests. And what's with the "hole"? Like, a glory hole? That might catch my attention & kick it up a notch, but I'll still pass.
Coffin:
In both coffins you can even slumber beneath closed lids! An will be opening soon: exclusively connoisseur room for all those "Nosferatus" who cannot wait for that which awaits us all. Whosoever has second thoughts can creep to the bedplace below, safe within the labyrinth. Not only a unique experience for Gothic die-hards...an exquisite location on top of that!
Um, NO. Since I don't fancy myself a travelin' Nosferatu with frequent flyer miles, I'll pass. And the minute that lid closed, I'd be screeching like a banshee in a full-blown panic attack. Personally, I like my holidays to remain sedative-free. I would start thinking of my deceased loved ones and then I'd just get disturbed. Plus, I'd be lying in that coffin knowing that that wouldn't be the last time my body would be chillin' in one. (edited to add: it looks like I can forego the coffin and slumber in some sort of labyrinth located below in that room. Can I just sleep in a Motel 6 at this point?)
I'm ALL over the "Upside Down" Room & the "Mirror" room. That sounds like lots of sexy fun! :D
But that's just me. I'd love to talk to anybody who actually did stay in those rooms and hear all of their exciting tales. :)

I know someone who stayed there, they had a great time - after they got over the insects and diarrhea - but hey, that's the jungle for you

I'd go to Brazil. I've only been to the West side of South America.

There's an awful lot of unusual hotels in Arkansas!
I'm trying to figure out why the underwater hotel in Key Largo requires scuba certification. It is only 21 feet down and you can't possibly be on compressed air while in it so it should be easily accessible with a surface airhose.
But it sounds cool in a stupid gimmick sort of way. Next time I'm in the keys I want to dive at the at the underwater national park anyway.

I am digging the Propellor Island City Lodge and it's oppressive aesthetics - so decidedly - "German"
I'm also loving some of the room descriptions:
The bathroom is a gigantic plastic bag - a real sensation!
or
Guests ought not to lean themselves or their belongings on the wave-shaped wall - like in the average museum: "Please do not touch". Trust is better than guardrails!
Maybe it's time to go back to Berlin - wonder if they still do the Love Parade

I was worried that they were serious about the plastic bag bathroom - like you get non-biodegradable chamber pot. That is NOT swanky.

Well, I am taken with Thorngrove Manor (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=3364&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=13&CountryID=&RatingID=&PageNo=0)the castle in Australia. Maybe to be tied in with a trip to see the Lashpair (then they will know I'm really a stalker)
Secrets on the Lake (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=354&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=13&CountryID=&RatingID=&PageNo=0) looks beautiful, but I fear for me, too many large bugs.
I think I'd splurge on this (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=5596&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=4&CountryID=&RatingID=&PageNo=0) though, in Sienna
But this is pretty great too, I've always thought Airstreams (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=5511&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=4&CountryID=&RatingID=&PageNo=1) were tres swanky!
And caves (http://www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com/HotelDetails.aspx?HotelID=410&src=search&ClassID=&Keyword=&LocationID=4&CountryID=&RatingID=&PageNo=2), well we must all stay in caves at least once!
