I had a door to door salesman visit me to "talk about my alarm system". I told him to go fly a kite because I was not going to discuss the details of my home alarm system with anyone. But, before I did that, he was talking about the advantages of a cellular connected system as opposed to the standard phone line system.

Of course, i need something else to think about.........anyways, I'm sure there is at least one person on this board who can give a decent overview of the advantages/disadvantages of a phone-line connected alarm vs a cellular connected alarm.

If I'm remembering this right, we have a phone line system with a cellular backup. Recently, however, we got a notice from ADT saying that under a new law, cellular carriers did not have to support alarm systems and ADT was getting the boot. We get to pay $200 for whatever fix they had in mind. I guess I should read the letter.

With a cell phone you are only allowed to get robbed on nights and weekends.

Be careful with door-to-door alarm salesmen. We have had a string of scam artists using that "line" to find out if you have an alarm and whatever details the homeowner throws in, to come back and steal everything in sight.

Yeah, that's pretty much why I sent him packing right away.
