I guess Pirates Lair (TSI) opens today. Here is a map from the OC Register of the new and improved features of the island:
http://www.ocregister.com/newsimages/news/2007/05/25tomsawyer_sem.gif

I doubt I will get to the Park today in time to get over there, but we'll see.

Pfft, I won't be back at the Park till, hmm, likely till Subs open. And I'm not talking opening day either (I work on Mondays), but rather the following Saturday.

I imagine I'll be there at opening on Saturday, June 16 - along with thousands of others heading straight for the Submarine Voyage. It would be nice to experience Pirates Lair, too, that very day - - - for an unusual day of Disneyland newness.

(Of course, if fate finds me at the Park sooner than that, I'm like to try to get over to TSI ... but I'm none too excited about it to tolerate long lines for a raft.)

Damn damn damn!!

Of all the years that I chose to not renew my pass, I chose this ONE. Now, of course, I really want to go.

Yet, I know that I won't. I work like a psychopath & rarely have a moment to breathe. When I do? I use it to nap & read. I have the best intentions, but I've gotten too lazy.

I'm still dying to go!

I think it sounds awesome! I've never had much interest in Tom Sawyer's Island since I was in my teens, but now I do! I think the effects sound bitchin' & exciting! :) :snap:

I'm trying to figure the best time to go. Anyone know if the Island opens at park opening time? My guess is that it may have expanded hours compared to TSI. (I guess it's now PLoTSI)

I'm thinking Monday at opening would be best (park opens at 9am).

I've got tickets to the movie (Pirate's Lair at world's end III ;) ) on Sat at 2:30ish at DtD, but it may be getting to dark to go after the movie and I have plans before it.

I'm waiting to hear from Chris about what time he can make the escape. I've still got a few walks to do and can't commit on a time, but I'm hoping we can make one of the last rafts out. Maybe.....

Chris has escaped and is now home. We're going to head out in a sec, make a couple of stops, and head to DL.

The Wolfette and I went today and ran into Lisa & Chris at the Park. We were leaving, they had just arrived.

My thoughts on Pirates Lair......cute, but not worth 28 million! Wolfette was not impressed either. Glad I got to see it, but won't be returning anytime soon.

Sorry no pics, maybe Lisa & Chris brought their camera!

Saw Borneo there on the Island, but not close enough to get his attention and he then disappeared as he usually does.

What do I think of TIFKaTSI? (The island formally known as Tom Sawyers Island)Not so bad. I think they actually did a good job with it. It certainly isn't "thrilling" but neither was TSI. There are lots of new little special effect vignettes in the caves, both bridges are still up - but the pontoon was closed. Part of the Sunken Pirate **** (I just misspelled ship as sh!t and now I can't type while I'm laughing) was broken already but the water pump Sisyphus thingie is a great way to get the kids tired out - and it was working just fine. The back of the island is completely closed off but I got to peek through a Lisa-height hole in the fence to see that all of the headstones are gone from the graveyard.

It only took is about 10 minutes to actually get on a raft to the island, but it took us more than 1/2 hour of line to get off. the line started at the Fort and went all of the way down the path.

I'll have to upload my pictures tomorrow.

Oh, and they're giving out cool maps when you board the raft.

Wolfy - you was great seeing you and the Wolferkind!

I liked it. The additions to the caves inspires more exploring, and the activities just make it more fun. As a kid I would have liked it more than the original - except that I bet you can't climb into the pit formerly known as bottom-less.

Thanks for the input, guys!

Just curious, Chris- did Lisa log out and then you log in to type in your 2 cents, or did you use a different 'puter. I'm just trying to picture this......

Hurry up! I want to add my opinion!

Ok, Ok! I'm almost done...He He....I typed in Sh!t!...He He.....

No, we're both sitting in bed, each with a laptop and a cat on our laps. But, I did make him ready my screen when i had my typo.

Aww, was I seen? Maybe it was a ghost...

I think I"m in agreement with Lisa on this. TSI wasn't thrilling to begin with and I think this adds abit to it. Beyond the BS of the Fort being gone, I enjoyed the little adds here and there. Of course my concern would be the goodies wearing out and needing TLC eventually - would they bother fixing it. So, seeing it now when things are working are a plus for me.

Awwww! I picture Mr & Mrs Brady, both in bed reading. Only with Lap tops! :D

BTW, I've made that same typo, and giggled about it too. Only I was at work, typing "shipping" in an email to a customer (as in I'm sh!tting it to you today)....

I don't know if "my craziest typo" is a suitable subject, but . . .

Some time ago, discussing the limits of constitutional limits, I wrote that if the Endangered Species Act was repealed, nothing in the constitution would stop the government if it decided to massacre all the eagles. Except instead of writing "massacre," I initially wrote "masturbate."

I fixed it before posting it, but it still amuses me, so I thought I'd share.

Warning: set-up coming. "Don't know where my head was at that morning."

Oh, I want to see the Island when it is new!!

And, as for typos, yours, Strangler Lewis, makes me laugh. {I can read a lot into your warning....}

I just made one {but fixed it} about going to the gym...I wrote about how it looked like fun going to the gym but for some reason I typed out guys....

Where was my mind at? :D

LOL on all the typos! I have to admit I haven't had any desire to visit the Island in years but I want to take missy over when we go in July! I love that it is a bit more wheelchair friendly, we'll pick a day when she doesn't need her chair as much to go so she can really enjoy it but it does make me happy that those children who have no option but their chairs can at least visit the island a bit easier now.

TSI has been one of my least favorite parts of the park. Having Boy with me has always been a challenge, avoiding the Island. It was easy when we had his dad with us, I could stay off and he would take Nick. I guess in June I will be taking him over and it sounds like I might even enjoy it.

We finally got a chance to check it out this weekend.

I give it a B-. Might have been a B or a B+, but the over exposure of pirate theming in general combined with actually hearing, "So says I, Davy Jones" on the island (I managed to hold back the waves of nausea) hurt the score.

But overall, they've got some nifty stuff on there. They could have done more, but what they did do was done well. Plus, it did have the one effect I was hoping for...it pulled that singing pirate show out of NOS. Yay!

Except that the singing Pirate Show is now broadcast all over New Orleans Square, replacing the jazzy area music that used to come from the riverfront speakers.

Bah.

I'm not usually one to complain at City Hall, but this might be something that prompts the trip.

Daily? I seems every few hours all of New Orleans becomes Pirate Town.

DOH!

So that would be the "singing pirate show" ISM mentioned. I thought that was a reference to the wandering troubadours. I rescind my inquiry.

So is the show worth the time to see once?

Saw the island yesterday, didn't stay for the show. I didn't mind the changes, some of them I actually liked and didn't feel it detracted too much from the island itself. I had no interest in the show though. Saw a little from the mainland and that was more than enough for me.
