The Scene
Built as a private residence, the state of Iowa now owns FLW-designed Cedar Rock. At the visitor's center (middle of corn fields), you board a tram for a 1/2 mile or so trip to the house. This keeps the site as it was when it was privately-owned.

Nice photos and short descriptions here. (http://www.peterbeers.net/interests/flw_rt/Iowa/Cedar_Rock/cedar_rock.htm)

Very beautiful! I was trying to figure out what Lowell Walters did for a living, but didn't find anything. Did they happend to mention it on the tour?

He was a businessman. I want to say he had a car dealership but I'll check with the hubbo to see if he remembers that, too.

Lowell Walters had the blacktop contract for all the state of Iowa roads.
