The Whos hear Horton

Do onto others as you would have them do onto others
as you would have them do onto others as you would
have them do onto others

A positive home life means a positive work life means a positive social life
means a positive city locality society
state

means a positive international interaction, positive cultural shift,
positive civil relations, positive human conditions

Means a positive charge

---

It all scales up and down
each cell a life form in predestined position
churning out amino acids between coffee breaks
Keeping busy, focused on the job,
staying positive

Always knowing that one day death will come
but staying with the now
at a level of consciousness as unreachable
as ours is to them

We stumbled onto their world, Columbus again,
only decades ago - their sphere completely removed
yet completely intertwined and barely visible

Do they stare upward and squint into the distance,
try to see us, try to grasp us?
Do they think we are God?
Our mastery exists in a sense, but the power equally lies in them,
their drive, their
positivity
repeating as long as the machine pumps

I am here, I am here, we are here

---

Chemicals bouncing in a vapor world
where "solid" is a concept impossible to grasp
the loneliness of nuclei assuaged by visiting electrons
or perhaps even too removed to sense them
orbiting planetary systems, worlds seperated by vast distances
each quark doing the best it can in a subatomic suburb
molecules are a world above and away, the rest, impossible

So we look up
quarks in an earth electron
orbiting a Sol atom
in a Milky Way molecule in a Universe...
material
that itself is incomprehensible
the path must lead beyond our ability to understand it

We are here, we are here, we are here
being the best quarks we can be
doing onto others as we would have them do onto others
working hard to make things better
keeping the beat going until we're dead and replaced
Our speck running under our own power to make the charge
The God above is as reliant upon us as we are on God
Vibrant and alive and positive

"This," cried the Mayor, "is your town's darkest hour!"
"We've GOT to make noises in greater amounts!
So, open your mouth, lad! For every voice counts!"

This, perhaps, the only way it could Matter
The only way to be Heard
The only Difference to Make

Six billion strong, all hitting brass pans
plus garbage pail tops and old cranberry cans
getting out the message, loud and clear
"Do you hear us up there? We are here! WE ARE HERE!"

Thanks. I feel it could be better but I don't think I can get it there. It's got the message though.

I just love that Seuss tackled such problems.

On the other hand, I just finished "Thidwick, the Big-Hearted Moose," a cautionary tale about how easy it is to have one's good nature taken advantage of.

I always found "The giving tree" a well rounded story. Amended for today there would probably be a lawyer with a stump-grinder at the end though.

I walked up to the Whoville set at Universal and stole some Whoville snow. Does that count? ;)

Real nice, CP. Great read....
