You would think when a person heard the shreiking metal sound they would stop...I guess not!?!
That is an amazing pic though. He peeled it open like a can of sardines!

How could he not know what kind of damage he was doing? I've never driven a semi, but maybe the noise, the jerking of the rig etc?

I hope they make him pay for repairing the tunnel. I'm just glad about this part The central tube of three in the tunnel heading into Manhattan was closed for about 90 minutes after the accident early Thursday, but reopened just before the morning rush hour.

A guy who used to drive for my Dad took out an awning in a similar manner.

The awning was only two days old and the truck was brand new as well. I guess the new Awning was a few inches lower than the old and the new truck likewise was a few inches higher--perfect storm

On the way back to Florida from Georgia, my friend and I saw a U-Haul that had been in a similar predictament. Whoo.... could you imagine the damage cost? The white flap o'truck had gone and it was a convertable U-Haul.
