Boy, things sure do move fast in Hollywood.
While I was in that weird, sad, awful grey area when I was applying for every job under the sun in Hollywood and otherwise (Borders in Yorba Linda... wtf was that?!), I happened to apply at an old job of mine at a post-production house. They had heard what I was doing at my current job and wanted me to reprise my old position with them.
They called me in for an interview on Thursday. So I went. It went well.
They called me this morning and offered me a position at their company. It's more money than my current job and this job has benefits. So I'm taking it. I start tomorrow.
In two weeks, I will have a new full-time job as a Post-Production Supervisor. I'm excited. The weird thing is that I will be training for the new job in the mornings and working my current job at night for 2 weeks. I'm going to be fried but it'll all be worth it soon.
There's weirdness though, going back to an old job. Same faces, same routine as before... but I'm optimistic.
I'm too busy to be nervous but I'm happy.
I'm not burning any bridges at my current job and they are happy for me. I've never been head-hunted before. It feels good.
:)

I'll try. :)
Sometimes I frustrate myself. I can't seem to get happy about this. I'm already on to the next worry. What will the job be like? What if they fire me after two weeks? What if? What if? What if?
Grrr. Why can't I just be happy?

Oh. P.S. The Batmobile (60's version), the General Lee and the Starsky and Hutch car are all parked together here on the lot. It's hysterical. I took a picture with my phone.

Never rains, but it pours.
As for not allowing yourself to be happy .... yeah WTF with that? Knock it off. You are being pursued by Hollywood, and gay cowboy has dreamt about you 5 out of 7 nights since last week.

There I go skimming your posts again. All I read was "gay cowboy dreaming about me".

Well, you can't spell "homo" without an "H" an "M" and an "O".

So I guess I'll just say: Congratulations
and start working on something for next week. :D

At least it would appear you are succesfull! Good luck, and I hope you can figure out which one suits you better in the next week or so.
Besides, if your current job is happy for you, and you leave them on good terms, you could always go back there.
Sounds like everything will work out fine, GC. Don't stress over it. You'll do great!

Am I also right in assuming that the new job is more of a permanent gig, doing Post on any number of consistently-incoming projects ... whilst the current job was tied to a specific set of shows, with employment subject to them getting picked up and, even if so, gaining immediate success and viewers?
I think this move is a good one, and if you don't get happy in the next 10 minutes ....

Stability is a big requirement for me right now. And yes working at a post house is much more stable than going from show to show.
I'm happy.

First day training at new/old job. Ahhhhhhhh! Brain on overload!
Lots of information to process... but mostly, I understand it all.
It's always interesting being the person between the creative folk and the technical folk. Lots of translating to do.

Oh, I know...
Where's the coffemaker?
Does the vending machine have decent snacks?
Which fridge is the personal fridge and which one has the "Client Schmooze Champagne" in it?
Which toilet has the softest paper?
Which toilet is safe to gossip in?
Who controls the gossip network?
Who runs the lottery syndicate?
...the list is endless :D
