An ex-Beatle fires a musician who probably signed some weird contract about meat eating and Teddy gets all riled up about the lib conspiracy to deprive him of meat...but really...the diatribe is about...GUNS? And Hugo and Hillary? Does he read what he writes?! Well, it's okay, I don't, either.

I'm pretty liberal, and I eats the furry animals. I'd shoot 'em too, but I'm scared of pointy things.

I know Paul is a HARD CORE vegetarian. I had an acquaintance who was his drummer and meat was NOT allowed anywhere on the tour.

I remember an interview with his late wife Linda, wherein she said something along the lines of not allowing her children to even play with kids who ate meat, it was so immoral to her.

That's a bit creepy to me...don't expose your kids to other life-ways? Because you're so righteous? Feh.

Still, the musician no doubt signed a contract saying no meat, and he ate of the forbidden flesh. It's a simple breach of contract, not a call to arms for us lovers of fine charred cow.

But: aren't these contracts/laws ridiculous? And are these restrictions on our employability (I've seen job ads saying non-smokers only, fit [how do you know, bud], high-energy, and even YOUNG -- which I'm sure is illegal) really getting out-of-hand? Yeah. If I were rich I'd go on a litigious spree. Oh, but this sounds like that old thread about skinny cute CMs, so I guess I don't want to go there.

While I agree that such contracts are ridiculous, if one signs up for such a thing, all the responsibilities to meeting the terms are up to the party signing up for it.

Exactly. I love veggies and MIGHT be able to stay off flesh for a tour, but who knows. The human flesh can be very weak at times, and the smell of a grilled burger can be more than one can bear.

BTW, the same can be said about sex, but that's another thread. :D

I can go without sex much easier than without meat. This last week we ate less meat because Alex is in the middle of some dental work and only wanted soft food... it really started screwing with our systems!

I've joked before that it'd be interesting to do a reverse of Super Size Me, because, you know, that guy went from a vegan diet to suddenly eating McMeals, and my argument was that a lot of the ill feelings he suffered were from the radical change in diet, not just what the diet was changed too. My bet is that if I suddenly went vegan, I'd be suffering the "light headed" "dizzy" and all the other crap he attributed to fast food. Hell, I go a week on LESS meat and I start feeling nasty!

I think it would be easier for me to give up meat than sex. Then again, I don't really want to be forced to pick one or the other. But yeah, I'd choose sex, because even the best fillet doesn't stack up to a really good roll in the hay.

Giving up beef and pork proved to be immensely easy for me and when we spent a full year vegetarian I never really had any problem with the lack of meat, just the inconvenience of finding good vegetarian dining.

I could believe that. Remember a few years ago when he and Linda McCartney did guest voices on "The Simpsons" on the episode where Lisa became a vegetarian? Paul would only agree to it if the creators and writers ensured that for the rest of the time the series stayed on the air that Lisa would stay a vegetarian. And, so far, she has.
