Is there a way to shuffle songs that are part of a play list on an iPod? I know how to shuffle my entire directory but I can't figure out how to do it for a specific play list.
Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, shuffle is on, or shuffle is off.
Now, you can go into a playlist while your 'pod' is connected to the computer and resort them.
Or does this only work on my pod?

I can get iTunes to shuffle a playlist while playing on my computer, but the ipod itself won't shuffle it. As Ponine said, you can manually shuffle the playlist order before putting on your ipod, but it will remain in that order on your ipod.
It's one of my 2 biggest complaints about iTunes/iPod (the other being that plugging your ipod into your computer via USB resets the "shuffle" every time).

It's easy, btd. On your iPod, go to settings > shuffle > songs. Then when you play your playlist, it'll be shuffled.

I've found the best way to shuffle your iTunes is to pick up the computer and give it a firm shake.

While I like the shuffle feature, there are certain playlists I would rather not be shuffled. Is there a way to do just individual playlists without having to go back and forth with the settings? I haven't found it on my own, and just sacrifice play order because I use the shuffle-preferred playlists far more frequently.

I don't know how playlists work but would this work?
Create Playlist A with the desired songs in the desired playlist order.
Create Playlist A-1 with same songs shuffled.
Create Playlist A-2 with same songs reshuffled.
Create Playlist A-3 with same songs reshuffled again.
Then if you want a shuffled order you can just pick a different shuffled playlist so you aren't always listening to the same order?

Hmmm.... Now there's an idea.

I believe you can set up your smart playlists to be random or not, so I would go that route to shuffle and use your ordinary playlists to remain static

Just throw the damned thing and scream at it... it seemed to work for a fellow MTA passenger today.

I figured out how to set my iPod to shuffle mode and then forgot to turn it back when I wanted to listen to my favorite driving to work CD. This was serious because I've listened to this particular CD so much that I know what song will play on which stretch of PCH and I look forward to Bolsa Chica and the Huntington Beach pier. And when it's on shuffle nothing is certain.
So why can't my iPod read my mind, damn it?
