This is the second season for the self-proclaimed World Series of Pop Culture on VH1 (http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/2007_world_series_of_pop_culture/series.jhtml?source=globalnav). It's got some annoying quirks - too much interviewing, posturing, and lame logos the producers made for the teams - but the actual competition part is fun. GD and I have been playing along, often pausing the TV while we search our brains for the answers. Obviously, not for viewing by the pop-culturally-challenged (that's you, NA) but for the rest of us there's some wonderful memories in there.

Anyone else watching?

Hadn't heard of this, but it sounds interesting.

Funny this should be brought up. The boyfriend was watching it last night and called me afterward to test my knowledge on the topics. We figure we'd be a pretty awesome duo - with his movie knowledge, my music knowledge and our collective television and history knowledge combined, we could rule the planet... or at least the school.

I've been watching it. I'm getting quite a few of them too. It's much easier to play from the couch then play on TV though ;)

My friend and I watch it together. It's awesome.

I've been recording the episodes but haven't had a chance to watch any yet. Have they changed the format at all from the first season? I remember really liking the concept and the trivia, but hating the format.

Well that sucks. I'll still check it out for the trivia though I guess.

What exactly don't you like about the format?

I hate to sound like an idiot, but I honestly don't remember at the moment. I just remember it bugging me. If it still bugs me after watching the new episodes I'm sure that will refresh my mind of the reasons and I can come back to give them.

Ok, once again I come to back to look like an idiot... I just watched all four of this week's episodes and the format didn't bug me at all this year. Nothing seems to have changed really, but for some reason i was fine with it this year, even though i wans't last year. Changing taste perhaps?

I think what I didn't like previously was the host. I get the idea, he's meant to be like a spelling bee guy or something, but he just seemed uninteresting to me previously. He seems more laid back and quirky-fun this year though. Perhaps it was the way he read off rap song lyrics that amused me.

Hmm, the host (same guy) cracked me up last year. He's got some seriously dry wit.

For those curious about him he is a morning news anchor in New York City and you'll occasionally see him playing that role in movies.

He also hosted a game show a few years ago called Studio 7 that I liked but didn't last long.
