I asked this question in another place but I wanted the opinions of the "Swanky People". I'll go into a little more detail since you don't know me as well here (no fault of yours at all). Even if you can't answer my question you'll definitely know more about me when you finish reading (if you care to know more).
So yeah as the threat topic clearly states I am turning 25 soon (September 19th in fact). I suppose that for most people it really isn't a big deal. However to me it is quite significant. I was born physically challenged. the Lord blessed (yes I mean it honestly) me with many unique qualities: I am legally blind, I have no sense of smell, probably because I was born without a nose - just the two holes in the middle of my face. I don't have all the joints in my fingers. There were other things such as a bilateral cleft palate that are too technical to mention here but I think you get the point. I was tested for every disease and disorder known to man at that point of time. Everything came back negative. However the doctors and nurses who cared for me didn't expect too much. In fact they told my parents that I would probably not live longer than six months. They said that if i did that I would be in a vegetative state.
All the testing and prodding caused me to come home after a month in the hospital. Unfortunately for me I was back in a month. On my dad's birthday I came down with pneumonia. Soon after that I was rushed into ICU because my heart was failing. On Thanksgiving of 1982 while everyone else was eating turkey with all the trimmings I was being blessed with something much better. I was undergoing Emergency surgery and te Lord blessed it with success! It's been a long road since than, including 15 more operations, but here I am!
To someone who was given such a grim prognosis at the beginning, making it to quarter century is a big deal in my opinion. I would like to celebrate it in a very special way. While a party would definitely suffice, I am moving out for the first time next Spring (from Atlanta to San Antonio, TX) and I think it would be appropriate to have a party than. I see having two parties as being superflous somewhat.
Morrigoon has already given me a great answer to this question elsewhere so she doesn't have to answer, and neither does anyone else really. I am just interested in your opinion. Oh and if you're still reading, Thanks. I know it's been long winded. LOL
