I've been invited to a 60th birthday party. The theme is everything 60's and the attire is coctail attire - from then or now. Anyone have any ideas on where to find some swanky 60's type coctail attire? I've got about a month.

It would take some shopping, but you could probably put together a mod outfit with new clothes.

Here's some inspiration. (http://www.fiftiesweb.com/fashion/sixties-fashion-w.htm)

Thanks for the link NA. This will involve much shopping, bummer :D

It's also work related so I'm looking for something fairly sedate. The dress you linked would be perfect - or something similiarish.

maybe check out a few old sean connery 007 movies for ideas as well. there's always a cool looking cocktail party in there somewhere.

Mary Quant still has a little shop in London - I bet you could find something there

theres a place called Frock You (http://www.frockyouvintage.com/) in our area that specializes in vintage clothing.

its actually kind of a funky/cool place to wander through albeit little more than a large walk in closet.

other vintage stores in SD (http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGIH_enUS215US216&um=1&q=vintage+clothing&near=San+Diego,+CA&fb=1&view=text&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=more-results&cd=1)

"Yes, keeping a clean and stylish home for my husband and three children is hectic... But I have these lovely little pills to help me through the day. Do you like my dress? I made it myself with help from the voices in my head."

I love the green stripe version!

The green stripe version looks to me like she's wearing an apron. I like the black/white version, but the white should be kelly green. For me at least.

As if I could pull it off.

For me, the question is, which part of the 60s? The 60s were a really dynamic time in womens' fashion, and a lot of people not from the era tend to miss that. Are we talking Summer of Love, or It's a Mod Mod World? :)

Just don't wear a pink wool suit.

Thanks for all the cool ideas. Matterhorn fan LOVE ther dress and I do sew but I'm guessing I would never complete it (all those years in 4H for nothing).

The invite states celebrating everything 60's even P (the birthday gal). So there is a wide variety to choose from. Since it states coctail attire and it is kind of work related for me I was thinking more along the Jackie O line rather than a mirco mini with white boots. I actually saw a cute dress at Mervyns yesterday that was a 60's ish kind of print but alas even on a starvation deit I'd never be a size 2.

Thanks for all the input.
