Not to cause a panic but MSNBC is reporting breaking news of an explosion in Manhattan with a building collapse. Has anyone heard of this or anything else?

Never mind. MSNBC just corrected themselves.

Sorry!

Having completely missed it, what did they correct themselves to? (In other words, what actually happened.)

First a transformer (power, not robot) then changed to an explosion in a manhole caused a pretty large fire.

NEW YORK - Fire and emergency crews responded to the scene of a suspected manhole explosion in Manhattan on Wednesday during the evening rush hour, officials said. It was not terrorism-related, the officials said.

Smoke was seen billowing above the east side of Manhattan, and several blocks were evacuated.

Two people were injured in the four-alarm incident near Grand Central Station, and several nearby buildings were evacuated, according to NBC News.

This breaking story will be updated as details become available.
The Associated Press and NBC News contributed to this report.

Man, why couldn't it have been the robot?

Man, why couldn't it have been the robot?
Then they would have had to correct it to, "Transformer Explodes in Manhattan City Very Near Manhattan that Looks Exactly Like Manhattan, Shares Landmarks and Street Names with Manhattan, But Isn't Actually Manhattan"

That's one heck of an error: from "Collapsed Building" to "Manhole Explosion"

I don't see it on the EDIS site (http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap2/woalert.php?lang=eng) therefore it hasn't happened.

Very good point GD (the not-Manhattan one).

NBC's got some pretty astounding images from what's going on. And from the images I'm seeing, I can certainly see why people thought the worst. Explosion, and a geyser of steam taller than the Chrysler building...yikes.
