The original thread on MA is here (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showthread.php?t=268), but I thought I'd start fresh to talk about any and all plans for before and after MA.

The Invitational is going to start bloody early. The group photo is called for 9:15am! Therefore I'm sending my teammate to the pre-registration on Saturday the 12th. I'll be working and won't be able to attend then.

Perhaps we should break with our long-standing tradition and NOT have breakfast at Whitewater. It's just so early! I figure most of us can pick each other out of the crowd and will meet up at the group photo, if not before.

Is anyone here doing the Open? I'm going to read the old thread as soon as I'm done here...

As for after the event - it seems that most of us are not springing for dinner at Big Thunder BBQ. How about if we meet at Zocolo? I'm sure none of us are going to want to walk any further than we need to in order to sit and eat.

What do you guys think? Who'll be there? I'll do the old fashioned roll call...;)

Zocalo? How about the Lobby of the Grand Cal?I really, really, really don't want to walk there until I've rested and eaten dinner, and even then, we'll need to get back in time for awards. :(

Hmm, don't we usually eat dinner AFTER the awards? I know this time will be different with the extra hours of competition, but it just seems that it'd be a bit early for dinner.

Team N'Ohana is playing the invitational. So that's me, Grumpy4, and mamabot this time. Definitely no time for Whitewater this go 'round, and the pre-reg sounds crucial on Saturday.

I can't even begin to think about this yet. (Oh, except for the shirts, of course, because that's the easy part! :p )

02-25-2005, 02:33 PM
we will be there....

Team name : Mansion Mavens ( i didnt come up with it )
Members - Me, my wife, wifes aunt, her sister (or you can put MHRC4 & family)

Ponine

Pixie Chicks are in. Its the two of us, and our men.
Ponine, Panther, Cordae and Storm.
(Two of those names are birth names)

So we're still working on.. Pixie Chicks and sticks.. or?

Oh, and we're playing open. So... we wont meet up until the awards. And just because its easy, we will be eating the bbq buffet thing.
So, for us, it would be easier to meet at the end since y'all are getting up WAY earlier than we are.

Really just us in the open? I'm gonna have to get mad at my DH now.

I told him I wanted to do the invitational...but noooo...he wants a chance at doing better in the open! LOL! (He has given me a response....we don't want to get going so early---nevermind)

Zocalo? How about the Lobby of the Grand Cal?

Grand Cal lobby after MA sounds good to me.I just wanna sit back in a comfy cozy place.

How early does the Invitational start, 9:30am? How long is it?

BarTopDancer

Well there is nothing that says we all have to eat dinner at the same place, or all do the same thing after MA. There can be a group that goes to eat, and a group that goes to lounge around. And if theres a group that doesn't want to eat at the same place as the other group they can break off too.

Right after MA does seem a bit early to eat dinner, but the early start and longer time may equal starving players. If people aren't to hungry and want to eat later there's always getting a snack...

I know the point was for the group to meet CP, but I don't want anyone to feel that just because they don't want to eat, or don't want to lounge they can't join up with the group. :)

Ponine

I'm actually going to go to thier buffet, since its close and I have two newbies with my group. It'll be paid in advance, and I wont have to think about what to do for dinner.
I'm lazy that way.
But I would love to see those of you who will be there. I jsut cant guarantee to get the men over to the Grand Cal

I'll be at Disneyland for the day, with my monkey - I don't know what condition we'll be in; MA is also the weekend of Solace; just look for zombies walking around wearing stuff from other Non-Disney parks.

Still unsure why TBE always wins a moral victory. I guess that makes us immoral. Ah well, you can't have morals and fun at the same time.

mhrc4 - are you playing Invitational? Have you played before?

Hmm, don't we usually eat dinner AFTER the awards? I know this time will be different with the extra hours of competition, but it just seems that it'd be a bit early for dinner. This is true. Before 5:30 is way too early for dinner (I'm sure we're all carrying lunch with us). Which is why I'm changing my vote to the AP Lounge, er, Grand Cal.

Well there is nothing that says we all have to eat dinner at the same place, or all do the same thing after MA.Um, yes, and your point is? That is the case for every single meet....ever.

So far most are saying AP Lounge...

But yep, we're four pretty darn boring people.

Um, yes, and your point is? That is the case for every single meet....ever.

My point was to make sure that everyone knows that they don't have to go where the big group goes. There is no pressure or hard feelings if they don't go. From the sounds of some of these posts the impression I got was people were concerned that they didn't want to go to dinner, or didn't want to go to the AP Lounge but would if thats where everyone else was going.

Edit: I'm sorry if my OP came across as anything other than trying to be helpful.

Heh, taking a look back, this will be our 6th!!! MA.... wow...

anyhow, when I was arranging it the last 2 times, we kept the same name, however, we almost didnt play this time around, and were invited at the last minute by our old team mates, who have already registered with a team name (which they feel the need to change every time :) )

Anyhow, yes, the women in my family a little domineering ;) how could you tell ;)

I know that people are talking of going to GrandCal, but I also know that my peeps will want to ride rides. (Oh the shame!) ;)
Now, because those of you who know me, KNOW that i am the hypersensitive sort, I am trying to be normal. (HA!)

Are any of you planning to come to the awards or the dinner? I would still like to see those of you who will be at the event, even though I seemiingly went a whole other way with it.

I doubt, as lovely as it sounds, that I can get my team to walk all the way over to the AP lounge.

Oh! And CP, we modified our Team name: Pixie Chicks n' Stix

Thats cool with me. So long as I have the option of waving hello!
thats normally all I get to a chance to do anyway. As long as the swanky folk arent snubbing the after event entirely that works for me.

(I think the reason I did the dinner is that it will be paid for, BEFORE we get there, and in some twisted way, doenst factor into that days budget. This way, I've fed two men, and not had to worry about who likes to eat what.)

So... what time are the awards? I have to scoot out (sadly) right after the game to go celebrate someone's birthday (which, trust me, will be as exciting as a homecooked meal and slightly burnt bundt cake, whoopee). I guess if "dinner" is prior to that then yeah, I'll be with FotM, passed out, halfway between Grand Cal and Cove Bar ;)

Speaking of which, I have never gotten SO DRUNK off a single drink than I did after the last time I did MA with Darkbeer and hit Cove Bar afterwards. But I think not eating all day probably had something to do with that - or DB being buddy buddy w/the bartenders!

A food for thought tidbit:

Just saw at the Pad that AVP said that there are 120 Open teams, and only 27 Invitational teams. The Open sold out and the Invitational definitely did not.

Thinking now though, it makes sense, as there are plenty of less competitive teams out there. Plus, try to come up with as many team names as you can remember. Many of those opted for the Open, too. Twenty-seven is a lot.

Ooh so excited now, and jealous of my husband, who's carousing with some :tiki: birds at this very moment.

I'm still regretting not playing invitational but I keep telling myself the choice will be the good one, since I have two noobs on my team.
Can't scare them off if I want them to come back!

Though, if the men stay... the team name must change next time....

Good luck CP! Not that I think you need it! I know what you're capable of!

Good point... I wish all of my friends and commrades luck with the Invitational tomorrow.
Though, I really shouldn't wish Disneyphile luck, I already gave her the lucky pen...

Best of luck to everyone! Hope to see everyone tomorrow! I cant wait to hear what was in store for you!

Good luck to everyone! I know you'll all do great. :)

Just make sure to set more than one alarm clock for tomorrow morning -- it's going to be an early call. I'm off to bed myself if I can make myself go to sleep....

Just stay away from the Cone-Meinke Late Night ruminations thread, and you'll be fine.;)

Anybody else never done the Mouse Adventure thing, or am I the only one? (I'm not even entirely sure what it is, scavenger hunt?)

Nope, you aren't. Never done one either and still don't have a complete grasp of what goes on. :)

Good luck to everyone! Weather looks somewhat forgiving today. :)

Oh, MA is so much fun!

Perhaps it was for the best, but I never managed to sign up for it this year. I wanted to have Tramspotter do it with me, but in light of all that's going on, I don't think we'd be in very good spirits during this test of endurance and will, which is basically what Mouse Adventure is, set inside Disneyland Resort.

I really think it's a fun fun fun event, rigorous... It takes a bit (a splash will do) of a competitive nature, along with a love of Disney/Disneyland, and team spirit (need lots of that!), and you'll have fun!

I think next fall, Tramspotter & I will be doing it. We'll have to do the Open, as he's never done it before, and unless I get a transfusion from another group, we won't have enough to qualify for the Invitational, which is probably just as well, since he's a first timer...
