Hopefully, this hasn't been posted before but I just got turned on to this site via email today.

I found it an intriguing view of what happens each minute of each day. Especially interesting is the "now" view.
If you haven't seen it before, enjoy! :)

Wow.
All I can say is (and I hate to, but I have to) .... more people need to start dying.
Thank god for all those abortions!
All you pompous Christians out there ... watch the "Now" view, keep an eye on births, deaths and abortions ... and then think how fast you'd be sharing your house with 17 other people if women weren't in control of their reproductive choices.
ETA: Ok, had to turn it off. The population growth is freak-me-out ALARMING! I won't be able to go to school today or tie my shoes if I keep watching that!

All I could think about with the abortions figure was: how many of those were solely because the fetus was female?

Funny, it took me a while to stop looking at the deaths counter and notice the births. All I could think of was grieving families, ends of lives long lived, tragic young deaths...
I know there are plenty of births to make up for it.
Hopefully, this hasn't been posted before ...
Yes, we do love pointing that out. But I have never seen it before. Thanks.
I agree with Innerspaceman -- more people must die!
(Just not me.)

For some reason this reminds me of Amelie, where she counts how many people are having orgasms in Paris at that moment.
Why don't they count orgasms? Why mostly crappy stuff?
Yeah, I wondered why it is almost all bad stuff (divorces but not weddings, for example).
Also, that earth temperature number is completely meaningless within such a context (and also suffers an excess of significant digits). Not claiming that it's point of increasing global temperature is wrong but that number has, at best, a tenuous connection to reality.

I don't know if you noticed or not, but the website points out that, out of all the facts listed, temperature of the earth is the one that is somewhat dubious.

From some website:
there are 6.6 billion people in this world. assuming a 1:1 ratio of men to women, there are 3.3 billion men. now assuming that 10 percent of all men on earth have sex (or wank off) every day ( i think it is a very safe assumtion..the actual percentage is surely higher than that), 330 million men have orgasms every day. assuming a simple distribution over 24 hours (i.e. all men are spread out equally across all timezones), that's 13.75 million orgasms per hour..or 229166 per minute..or 3189 per second..
And that's just a rough guess of men!
That's hot.

And the true amount is likely (at least) 15,945 male cum orgasms per second.
Oh my! Will somebody open a window or, ya know, turn on a fan.

Well if we take the average ejaculate at 3ml (wikipedia says 1.5 - 5ml) and use ISMs number we get 47.835 liters or 12.637 gallons a second.
Don't you love word problems?

Don't worry too much....most experts agree that World Population will peak sometime between 2050 - 2070....then start to decline.
Even right now things are not all that crowded:
Everyone on Earth could fit into LA County quite comfortably right now believe it or not:eek:
LA County has 4700 square miles divided by 6.6 Billion equals .000000712 of a sq mile.
.000000712 equals roughly 2.2 square yards...about the size of a Lazy Boy Recliner in reclined position.
In other words.....Every Man, Woman, and Child on Earth would have enough room to squeze into LA County and spend the night in a Lazy Boy.........don't ask me where they'd go to the bathroom though:eek:

I would guess you probably want to pick a place that isn't uphill from LA County.
