ETA: I LIED - the full story DOES have spoilers - read at your own risk!!!
This may have already appeared in one of the other HP threads, but since they all include spoilers and I have not yet read the book or seen the movie, I wanted to share here.
Stop your sobbing! More Potter to come
J.K. Rowling tells TODAY she will write an ‘encyclopedia’ on characters
For the millions in the midst of the seven stages of mourning for the end of the Harry Potter era, take heart.
In her first tell-all interview since the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” J.K. Rowling told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira she “probably will” publish a Potter encyclopedia, promising many more details about her beloved characters and the fate of the wizarding world beyond the few clues provided in the seventh book’s epilogue. The whole kit and caboodle (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19935372/)

Haha Kevy! :D Your Thread title made me giggle.
I'm wishing at this point that HP stood for Huntington Park. Happy Place. F*ck, even Hair Pie. Just ANYTHING but Harry Potter, for us non-readers from another planet.
I would have crashed another Thread but, there's like, none other to crash.
;) :p
Whoops. Should have put my money on the under.

I always think of the Believe fireworks: Powered by HP!
This thread sucks though. I'm gonna start my own Harry Potter thread. ;)

Everyone should start their own Harry Potter thread, and allow people to post only by invitation.

I don't see the 'encyclopedia' as another HP book - but as a guide to the HP world. There are so many characters, spells and back stories to keep track of, it will be a great official* reference book to have.
*official because there are many unofficial reference guides out there.
The reason I said under is because, according to the blurb above, it will include new information; including more information about the time between the end of book 7 and the epilogue.
Such encyclopedias usually aren't written by the author of the primary material, at least not in my experience.

Good point. Perhaps she is doing it so no one else will.

Ooh! And let's rename the Board! We will, from this point on, refer to ourselves as "Harry LoTters".
:D
Okay, so I confess: my boss' wife told me she had purchased the new Harry Potter book. While I was in their house this morning, I spied it sitting on the countertop and was thisclose to picking it up and leafing through it!
Plus, LSPoorEeyorick told me I would really enjoy it & I totally trust her opinion! :) I think I might just have to give it a chance (beginning with book 1, of course. Nobody will post on my book 1 spoilers thread. :( :p)

Sorting Hat (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0680587/): Hmm, difficult. VERY difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?
Kevin (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0705356/): Not Homoclaw. Not Homoclaw.

Ummm, it'd take a lot more than the loss of a few chin hairs to invalidate my hirsute status.

She did write a couple of other books a few years ago to benefit Comic Relief. Quidditch through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them. They're short 40-50 page books. They were published in 2001.

ETA: I guess there were only the two.
