Yep, Depp is going to star in a movie version of Dark Shadows. He 's long been on record as a big fan of the show, and has wanted to play the romantic vampire lead since childhood.

I remember the 1966 gothic soap opera from my own kidhood, but alas - repeats I caught a few years back left me that awful What-Was-I-Thinking!? feeling.

But ... the show's still got ravenous fans. There were over 1200 episodes in the run that lasted till 1971.

In other casting news from Comic-Con -

Leonard Nimoy will reprise the role of Spock in J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek movie (splitting the role with Zachary Quinto of Heroes).

I'm happy about this bit of casting :)

Karen Allen is reviving her role as Marion Ravenwood in Indiana Jones 4 :D

I love Karen Allen! I am unbelievably excited over that bit o' news!! (I never could warm up to Kate Capshaw's character in Temple Of Doom. Especially with that hairdo that was so not of the era. Plus, I wanted to punch short stuff, or short round or short bread or whatever the flock the name was. Poor kid. :()

I loved Dark Shadows, it was a routine after school and after homework. Loved it, totally. Like you iSm, this in no way held up even through layers of rose colored glasses, but, done right and with good effects and a decent script, this will be great. Depp will be perfect casting.

I hope Jonathan Frid is still around for a cameo!

If a "young Spock" needs to be cast then Quinto is fine (at least in appearance). But I've still not developed any interest in a Trekkie Babies movie.
