The Scene
Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums featuring Miss Carmen Getit are based in the Bay Area but they play in SoCal from time to time. Last night they played PBDA for the first time and I'm hooked.
Steve Lucky is a great keyboard player and Carmen Getit is a fabulous singer and guitarist. She's also gorgeous.
The band plays a mix of jump blues, swing, rock and roll. They didn't seem to play so many of the standards that other bands play, instead reaching deeper into the catalog. And when they did play a more well-known song they made it completely their own.
The music was wonderful to dance to but the band puts on a great show so if you don't dance you'd still have a great time.
What a great night.
