I wish I weren't a Virgin America Virgin. (http://www.boingboing.net/2007/08/08/getting_high_with_ri.html)

Wow. And, I just found out they are one of the airlines that Matthew applied for this week.

Thanks to a verrrry big snafu on our venture out to Italy, Our Virgin Airline cherry was popped. Of course, we weren't on a plane that was quite like the boingboing article-- but, maaan. After our airlines screwed up big-time and, in the process, cut our honeymoon short by a day, Virgin's wonderful attendents took very good care of us.

After almost 12 hours of being tossed around and flightless, we were directed to the bulkhead, simultaneously confronted with an angry couple who yelled at us ("we were told no one was going to be sitting with us! why are you sitting here?!") and a seat that was, rather embarassingly, too narrow for anyone of size. I was super-stressed out at that point, and I burst into tears.

Enter Helen. The sweetest little chippy EVER. She took us aside, found out what had happened to us that day (and also that our honeymoon had been shortened) and immediately set to finding a way to help us. Before take-off, she'd found us seats in a higher class and transferred us there. She checked in on us frequently and was nothing but supremely kind the whole way. Plus-- the seats were so comfortable-- reclining!-- and the entertainment options were terrific. (It took the sting out of the previous day-- though the following day was almost worse in terms of flight-rescheduling etc, gah. But Virgin even helped us then-- after our own airline [alitalia, bleah] refused to.)

So, yay Virgin. We'll happily pay extra to fly with them again. (And I can't think of a better airline for someone as kind, and as good at customer service, as Matthew is. I'll cross digits!)

I'm flying them in November to VA for a seminar. I'm going to try the first class, what the hell, I will never have enough upgrades to fly first with anyone else.

Thanks CP, that makes me even more anxious to fly as a Virgin!
