What to do about the Scandanavian Moose? (http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,501145,00.html)

Norway is concerned that its national animal, the moose, is harming the climate by emitting an estimated 2,100 kilos of carbon dioxide a year through its belching and farting.

Norwegian newspapers, citing research from Norway's technical university, said a motorist would have to drive 13,000 kilometers in a car to emit as much CO2 as a moose does in a year.

I had a friend from Alaska who had a moose come into his house. Stopped in a hallway, too afraid to go forward. It would kick anyone who came behind it. They had to knock out a couple of walls so it would go out of the house.

Damned moose are a threat to society I tell you!

I would like to study the adverse effects of dihydrogen oxide, a chemical so deadly it can kill someone in a matter of seconds, and is particular dangerous to children.

Moose Farts aren't quite gross enough for the Parking Lot, and so far as I can tell the moose* haven't come out for either the Republican or Democratic parties, so no Grinding necessary.......yet. NA might move it to the PL if she catches the references Pru and I made, though.

No, I think they'd be republicans. The dems would try to tax them for every fart because of the harm they were causing.

A great idea - a fart tax! No one likes farts, so why not tax each one to try to limit them?

Whenever they talk about cow emissions (or moose emissions) I wonder about human emissions. If people are harming the environment just by having natural body functions, then I give up.

I can understand some concern over cows because we farm them to unnaturally high numbers. But wild moose in Scandanavia? Come on, people.

Ick, any fart harms the enviroment as far as I'm concerned. Maybe just my enviroment. Of course, I'll go "ick!" when a guy lets loose around me, but then I always giggle uncontrollably like a 5th grade boy & secretely hope a contest will erupt as a result. Much like the gas that inspired it. I'm a sad excuse for a girl most of the time- don't let the sparkly pink confuse you. ;)

Wow! A moose in the house? I haven't heard of that one! But I have been reading alot lately about black bears breaking into homes this summer. They just cruise on in & steal lots of food. They actually open your fridge and help themselves, as well as breaking every cabinet and drawer. One family came home to find a cub sitting in their hallway playing with a beachball. He and his mom had apparently moved into the home for a week while the family was away. And while they cause scary destruction, why is it I look at the photos and smile & go "Look at the little guy drink Pepsi just like humans! Aww! He thinks he's people!"?

My thoughts exactly. One cow gasous eruption is equivalent to ten humans' on thier worst days, most likely. Mainly because grassy goods are harder to digest. I'm sure there are many more beef anus than moose butts in the world. But let's not even talk about elephants! Wowa! :eek:

I recognize those statues!

I think the other problem with cows in the modern world (besides their unnatural numbers) is the fact that we feed them corn, something they are just not built to digest. It throws off their tummies. I wonder if eating grass (which they have the capacity to digest properly) produces less gas.

I know corn is real hard to digest. I've seen people fish with it, and my grandad said never to do that because if the fish bite, and get away, they will die because they can't digest or pass it. Also, I read that a large portion of the solids in the bottom of sewer pipes is corn. Corn that has gone through human intestins intact! :eek:

Next up, "CORN- nutrition, or decoration"......

I didn't know corn would kill fish. Huh.

I believe it about the sewer pipes though. Humans can't digest the cellulose in corn. Not much else can, either, apparently. Grind it up, and we can do it, but whole? Not so much.
