So I just got back from Amoeba to pick up a couple of Gogol Bordello CDs (so I can sing along at the show) and burn off a little of the credit I earned selling my laserdiscs a couple of weeks ago.

While browsing the end racks, I was delighted to discover that there has been a US release of the expanded edition reissue of the classic Young Marble Giants album "Colossal Youth." 46 tracks in all, including all of their recorded (studio) output on three CDs. The first CD contains the album, the second their EP, their single, their compilation track and their posthumous demos album, and the third contains their Peel session. I know that all of these tracks are more than a quarter century old, but they all sound so fresh and vital. Big MousePod recommendation. And all for $16.98!

Does that imply you're going to the Gogol Bordello show at the Mayan on October 25???

If so ...:D

Why, yes it does.

For the record, here are 5 shows I can pretty much guarantee I'll be at:

- the aforementioned Gogol Bordello show
- Pink Martini (see y'all soon!)
- The Avengers with Pansy Division in October at Spaceland
- Fiery Furnaces at the Troubador on October 22 (new album soon)
- Caetano Veloso in Pasadena in November (very expensive tix...)

Boy, do I need to expand my musical education.

Wow! Young Marble Giants! That album used to put me in the most singular pleasantly melancholy mood. Must have it!

Edited to add: And the whole triple disc is available for my lazy ass to buy on iTunes - yippee! (Now, that will have to wait for a few days, but I am so there)

I think I only have vinyl of YMG. I should pick this up.

And, MP, your Gb tickets came yesterday.

If there are still Gogol Bordello tickets available this Friday, I may actually delay my trip back east by a day so I can go again. Cross your fingers for me, will ya?

I'd also be up for the Fiery Furnaces.
