Scaring people at Disneyland, lines to nowhere (that beautiful utility closet in NOS is such a fun place to play that game), looking for beer cans in the water at IaSW, seeing where the paper hats wind up in different attractions, passing out from utter, fun exhaustion :D

You could pretend it is NYE 1987, wait until it is midnight, wander the Pearl and get mugged.
My mom and I were just talking the other day about how much that area has changed in the last 25 years. I had a very educational experience somewhere around the corner of 10th and Davis in about 1984. Formative for me but I was very surprised last week that I mentioned it and my mom remembered it as well (nothing too horrible, just some sex stuff in posters plastered on a building).

I wanna wish everyone here a Happy New Year! Had a blast at Disneyland and rang in the new year between the Castle, the Matterhorn and Ariel's Enterance. :)
The park was jammed, lines for (for example) for Turkey Legs over at the Frontieerland station across from the Mark Twain dock had a line that almost got to the Shooting Gallery. Over in NOS, the Bread Bowl next to Pirates - the line was over the bridge heading towards Tarzan's Tree HOuse. The line for Pirates at one time was along the raised area in front of Cafe Orleans to Haunted Mansion and back several times. :)
No Holiday Fireworks and at Midnight one pop went off because the wind was extreme. There was no doubt early on that they would cancel them.
Last ride of 2007 was Space Mtn and a 1/3 ride around on the Train. First ride was (as tradition indicates) Dumbo. About ten min. after midnight the crowd evaporated. It was a ghost town, so we enjoyed a few rides before the park closed at 2am.
I didn't hear if the gates were closed at all, but my friends Nic and Robin (Gwyren & Hippie) went to DCA at 2pm for lunch and got back into the park with no issues. Also, by the 3pm Parade, the area in front of the castle was already filled with blankets and people sitting. Around 9am when I arrived, there was maybe a dozen around the hub.
Dinner was at Cafe Orleans and it was one of the best meals there. Everything was very fresh and thankfully we had a reservation. Or so I thought, apparently acording to the CM, disney dining is been having serious issues with reservations recently, so they were awesome enough to "keep" my reservation when they were turning away dozens of groups.
Happy New Year everyone!!

Poor CM though sicker than sick and i felt bad especially riding Small World Holiday with him getting sick over the side of the boat. :(
Dinner at Cafe Orleans the best i've had and i would definitely eat there again. :) Glad they made good even though they "lost" the reservation...Disney Dining at it's best. They weren't taking walk ups only those who reservations.
The park was absolutely packed. Never went outside so don't know if they closed the gates but when we left there was a sign by the front saying "Due to the parks being extremely crowded to make sure you have a handstamp and ticket to reenter." But once midnight happened everyone seemed to leave the park thus leaving it nearly desserted to ride some rides.
I must admit i loved riding Dumbo after midnight being the first ride of 08. :) Nice tradition. :) Here's to great friends and a wonderful husband. :)
Still in jammies and will be for the rest of the day. :)

Well, we went to Disneyland the 30th, was so interested in all of the things being set up for the next day...not in our plans, though.
What is the deal with the turkey legs? Is it because they are inexpensive? I saw families eating them, every member. I just don't get it. Are they that good?
Last night we had some errands to run, people to visit. The Hubster made a delicious salad and porterhouse steaks...just as I was getting into my salad {filled with my favorites, avocado, tomato, mushroom, yummy!} I had a coughing attack! It totally freaked me out, I thought I was not going to be able to stop and catch my breath!!
After a while I was able to eat, watched my soap, 'Two and a Half Men', then fell asleep. I made sure the kids would wake us up before midnight and we toasted the new year with sparkling cider.
Funny, the Hubster was getting perturbed with me, 'Where are my fireworks???' {he had bought them back on the fourth in Bishop and was looking forward to setting them off....} I told him where they should be, they weren't. Well....it turns out while we were out of town the boys set off the whole freakin' pack in the court!!! Hubster was pissed but I thought it was funny. I said 'If that is the worse thing he has done, it isn't so bad.' Typical thing for kids to do, right? :D
I enjoyed hearing everyones stories, some like mine, some I wish I'd had the energy to have be like mine.
Happy New Year!!

Outer Space Party New Years was the funnest of the bunch. Or was it just the most recent? Either way, I can't remember ever laughing so hard and so often at one of these shindigs. So many people had their Wit-o-Meters set to stun.
Skype guests from Down Under, attending the party for hours, wandering around and mingling like any other guests, and providing tons of fun through both well-prepared and spontaneous props & costumes was a definite yet slightly bittersweet highlight. I sure miss those boys, but what a wonderful way for them to share the night with us!
The one a.m. trou drop tradition was in perfect form. Party favors, decor, theme drinks, and embroidered souvenirs were top-notch gifts from the host, hostess and a certain drunk seemstress queen.
P.J.'s and SpaceSuits were glorious and bountiful. But, where o' where will I next get to wear my white vinyl staight-jacket space cadet uniform? If I never get another chance, I'm glad this was the night! A terrific and splendifitacular New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Holy crap, the party continues to be fun and different each year, even while accumulating traditions.
I don't think we can ever cap the obscene amount of bacon consumed. Bacon hors d'overs the night before, both wrapped around items and simply laid out, with the candied bacon (thanks Ms. Drunken Seamstress!) being the winner hands down. Then morning, with plate after plate of various bacon types being thrown on outdoor griddles by Kevy and € and delivered around, until I swear every pore of my body was filled with greasy goodness. I won't be able to look at the stuff for a while yet.
The Tang Punch was an effortless way to get trashed and I believe that led to the glib tone of the evening. (quick apology - I think I got a bit in abusive drunk mode for a while there - sorry if I was a downer on anyone, I didn't mean it!) The Lashes had everyone in tears with their antics, and a visit to the Drunken Seamstress's room was always amusing. The backyard firepit was a wonderful new twist (thanks to DP and FP) and no one spilled anything on NA's outfit - a first!
We got a little sad when Erica left, though meeting her guy was a treat. Some stayed and some left and some even returned for breakfast gloriousness. As usual, amazing food from amazing cooks! There was the usual snoring and cat antics through the night. I did get awoken by what felt like a punch in the head with brass knuckles only to find myself truly bleeding from a startled Calliope to the face. One hell of a WTF moment. In happy news, I did not kill the cat and accepted her apologies.
We "watched" fabulous films - 2001, Fantastic Planet, Barbarella, Earth Girls are Easy, the Women on the Moon. We actually shushed and saw CQ in it's entirety - I adore that film, and it includes a NYE celebration! Couldn't be better.
What else...NirvanaMan's stolen pants and vandalized recovery, MaryPoppins via webcam, the wiggly Thurston attack on lindyhop that never ended, being filmed while taking a shower....yeah, that about wraps it up.
I've got my keepsake space toys and personalized pillowcase to remember this evening forever. You two sure do know how to put on a party, and everyone else sure knows how to attend one.

Well, it's 10:12 and the party is over. Thurston is exhausted and spoiled. The cats are reclaiming their domain and I'm not moving from the couch until I crawl into bed.
I have to give a great big nod in GusGus's direction, because without her, I couldn't have pulled of making custom themed pillowcases for everyone. I had made a total of one pillow case in my life when I called Susan with my crazy idea. She not only encourage me, but offered to help in a BIG way. We spent 2 full days in our "sweat shop" bent over our sewing machines or cutting devices. And, it was blast! When she suggested bring her brand new machine over to embroider names on the pillow cases, it was the absolute best bit of perfection added to the mix. Thank you!!!.
This party has become such a group effort, while we host, plan a decorate we have additions and help from everyone. FP and DP's perfect-fit fireplace, CP's homemaker magic with today's meal, KB's help with grilling even bringing a second grill (not to mention yummy Chili), Chernie's Flaming Suzette Spectatular the, yet again, didn't burn down the kitchen, and what would be an eveny without some LOVE (brownies) from SM.

Happy New Year Everyone - I love the previous recaps, the only thing I can possibly add is thanks for indulging my Tang experiments - of course now it seems I have 20 more bottles of liquor than I started out with yesterday.

Truth be told, there was a photo there that was an astounding and alarming specimen, and zapp laid claim to it. I was astounded because even I was surprisingly impressed with something I rightly should have been very familiar with.
Ugh, but he ... for whatever bizarre reason ... did not like that photo and deleted it. He replaced it with another, imo, less alarming picture of his distinct manhood. But I don't know which page he ended up using, so I can't say who is various and who is sundry.

My photos and short video clips of the evening will be uploaded by tomorrow.
Some Things I'll never forget:
The most awesome pillowcases ever
The juiciness of NM's pants
The shock I received by scrolling through the infamous Penis Pokey camera
Tang + alcohol = damn yummy and very toxic
Bacon candy
Strawberry ice creamy goodness
Having our Aussie guys there (albeit via technology)
Lashbear's red sequined frock and LoT "thong"
Some movies that really tripped me out with interesting dreams (I blame the toxic Tang)
The variety of PJs
Taking over the bathroom to film CP taking a shower while she lusted over some body wash ;)
I can't think of a better opener for 2008. It's already off to a great start. :)

What a fan-fukin-tastic party as always. Glad I did not fall victim to Chris's mystery concoctions this year. At least not to the extent I did last year. That allowed me to fully enjoy breakfast and the entirety of the afterglow party.
The decorations, goody bags and pillowcases were stellar. My stolen and vandalized pants, somewhat less so. The tradition that began with me stumbling into the street drunk with a glass of champagne has grown into a fantastic assembly that has gained notoriety (and an audience) so that is fulfilling and surprising.
A tip of the hat of course the Lisa and Chris who continue to exceed expectations. And a special ass-grab to GusGus for her drunken embroidery skills.

However, the idea of picking a theme this far out, and of US picking the theme, is downright unswanky. Leave it to the whiz kids in LB - it's their soiree, and it's not like they need any help in the theming dept!
I don't know what the HELL we're going to do next year.
If that's not a blatant test balloon, I've never stood on Main Street waiting to see which way the wind is blowing!
Personally, I've always wanted a Poseidon Adventure themed new year's eve party.

Hey! You can dream up all of the hellish ideas you want to, but no one is going to know the theme until the Evites go out. So there.:p

There's got to be a morning after
If we can hold on through the night
We have a chance to find the sunshine
Let's keep on looking for the light
Oh can't you see the morning after?
It's waiting right outside the storm
Why don't we cross the bridge together
And find a place that's safe and warm?
It's not too late
We should be giving
Only with love can we climb
It's not too late
Not while we're living
Let's put our hands out in time
There's got to be a morning after
We're moving closer to the shore
I know we'll be there by tomorrow
And we'll escape the darkness
We won't be searching anymore
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after...

Agreed, I don't think the US should pick the theme. Leave it to AUS instead. I like the Poseidon Adventure. We can put a fishtank between us and the web-cam :D

Sigh, alas I've already been to a Poseidon Adventure NYE Party.
It was aboard the Queen Mary - um I don't see how you could get more perfect than that. Especially since, after the midnight ballroom thing which was straight out of the movie ... we all snuck below decks to the bowels of the ship, and were exploring grimy, dark and scary environs full of catwalks and steam. Just like in the movie, we got our tuxes and gowns all filthy and torn. It could hardly have been more Poseidon Adventure if everything had been turned upside down.
So, alas, my personal vote remains for LoT Goes to Hell.
Le sigh.

The best pic illustrating the sort of condition I was in for our annual open to close madness at Disneyland is this one, taken as I was passed out at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon.

I felt a little better afterwards, and after the countdown and screaming and other senselessness, we rode Dumbo

Shortly after that, we rode Small World Holiday, and I puked my guts halfway around the world. Sadly, no photos were taken, but I think many were scarred for life.

That is an odd picture. I think the dark glasses kept, um, whoever that is, from realizing that pants had been re dropped for the photo-op.
The scowl and midnight shadow are none too flattering, though. And I'd say that this impostor, whoever he is, needs to get a better scarf.
