I know someone who auditioned! Her name is Annie Modesitt (http://www.anniemodesitt.com/). She would have been an interesting choice but she didn't make it this time. Basically, the producers told her to lose weight and come back next year. I hope she does.

Uh, I thought it was the clothing they were judging, not her. Maybe it's just me, but I did not think tat boy from last year was something I'd like to see on the cover of vogue.
Anyway, YAY, I've missed this show!

I'm interested in how a designer who works primarily with knitting would work on the show. I think it would be cool.

HOMETOWN: Charlotte, N.C
EDUCATION: Architecture at Savannah College of Art & Design
FAVORITE DESIGNERS: Tracy Reece, Epperson and Byron Lars
FASHION MUST: A fantastic shawl or scarf that can be worn in many different ways.
North Carolinia native, Carmen, has had a love for fashion since a young age. She was modeling in trunk shows for Alexander Julian, DKNY and Anne Klein at 16. In high school, she began taking fashion merchandising courses through the DECCA Club and competed in a regional contest for fashion marketing and branding. In 1989, she began studying architecture at Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), but later went on to double major in fashion design and illustration. Completing a four-year program at SCAD, she graduated cum laude and was named as top fashion designer of her class.
After graduation, Carmen moved to Paris where she interned for Christope LeMaire, who studied under Christian LaCroix and is now the head designer for Lacoste. She also worked as a sales associate at one of Paco Rabanne’s first ready-to-wear boutiques in Paris. Carmen showcased her first ready-to-wear collection at La Couple Jazz Club in Paris in 1996. After four years in Paris, Carmen moved to the “big apple” to launch her Harlem-based clothing line in the fashion capital.
In the summer of 2001, Carmen launched the “Sistahs of Harlem” clothing line with partner Carmia Marshall, a wardrobe stylist in the film and television industry. The clothing line started in humble street fairs where she sold handbags and deconstructed
t-shirts. Carmen has done line building for a private footwear company working with top European and American brands. Marshall and Carmen co-wrote, “T-Shirt Makeovers 20 Transformations For Fabulous Fashion,” a do-it-yourself book, in stores now. Their second book will be out in 2008 with a focus on denim.

FAVORITE DESIGNER: Dior
FASHION MUST: Bright colored anything
Chris is a freelance Costume Designer in New York City with a client list that includes Cirque du Soleil, Madonna and Thierry Mugler. Originally from San Francisco, he has always kept his eye on a career in fashion.
Chris’ work on the giant trademark hats and wigs of America’s longest running show, “Beach Blanket Babylon,” earned him great acclaim. Without any formal costume or fashion education, he garnered an impressive client list. His love of costuming, fashion, and acting, led him to pursue his fashion design dreams in New York, where his achievements include a “Drama Desk Award” nomination for outstanding costume design. Chris has created looks and styles for many designers that have appeared on “Entertainment Tonight,” “Martha Stewart,” “Rachael Ray,” “Tyra,” “Today,” E! and MTV.
Classic designers like Dior and Chanel, as well as trailblazers like Thierry Mugler, Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano inspire Chris. However, he says he’s always had an unmistakably unique vision and talent that includes sculptural lines, lush fabrics, humor and an unpredictable use of materials. Chris says he designs for the woman who wants to stand out in a crowd.

HOMETOWN: El Paso, Texas
EDUCATION: Master of Fine Arts in Combined Media with an emphasis on sculpture, performance and installation from the University of Arizona, Tucson
FAVORITE DESIGNERS: Erte, Jean Cocteau, Madame Gris, Zaldy, Norma Kamali
FASHION MUST: A great pair of boots
An interdisplinary artist, Elisa, 42, recently moved to back to the desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico after 13 years of thriving in New York City. She built the foundation of her work around “The Hunger World,” a psuedo-fictious world of marionettes brought to life and mythos through writing, drawing, painting, performance, installation, and fashion. However, fashion has been her predominant “accidental” career income and reputation.
Elisa’s education began with being the child of two highly respected artists, sculptor Luis Jimenez, and long time head designer for Fitz & Floyd, Vicky C. Balcou. In 1983, she graduated from the Arts Magnet High School of Visual and Performing Arts in Dallas as the Nat Foundation for The Arts most promising artist. She received a Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, with a minor in anthropology before receiving a Master of Fine Arts with a minor in classics from the University of Arizona.
Vogue discovered Elisa and has consistently acknowledged her as the forefront of the new avant-garde, as well as the top 10 American Designers in the independent realm. Additionally, she has appeared in the pages of “Harper’s Bazaar,” “Elle,” “Dutch,” “Black Book,” “Paper Mag,” “Jane” and “Trace.” Her celebrity work includes Melissa Auf Der Mar, Cher’s “Believe” album, Jennifer Connelly’s character in “Requiem for A Dream,” Marisa Tomei, Courtney Love, Sarah Jessica Parker, “Sex in the City,” Pink, Cameron Diaz, and famed art photographer, Cindy Sherman. She was invited to be in the Barabacan’s exhibit and book, “Rapture: Art and Fashion since the 1970’s,” curated by Chris Townsend of London and was represented by Holly Solomon, influential art dealer, in the last seven years of her life.
Currently, Elisa is proudly continuing her life, fashion and art with her partner and daughter in her new home in New Mexico.

- Jillian Lewis
AGE: 26
HOMETOWN: Long Island, NY
EDUCATION: Parsons School of Design
FAVORITE DESIGNERS: Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balanciaga and Azzedine Alaia
FASHION MUST: A sweater dress (ideally with pockets hidden in the side seams) worn with opaque colored tights.
Jillian, 26, was born and raised in the small town Selden in Long Island, NY. In 2003, she graduated from Parsons School of Design to pursue her fashion dream. While there, she was honored with the CFDA scholarship award and selected to design the Perrier girl uniform, which was featured as “Parsons Design Star” on the MTV college network.
Jillian is currently working on her own label while consulting for several companies as a designer. Having worked as a concept designer and illustrator at Rugby by Ralph Lauren and as a designer at Searle, Jillian learned the skills of the fashion trade. At Searle, she experienced “the old fashioned way of tailoring” and at Rugby she became an “expert at conceptualizing a full and balanced collection.” Although her experiences have made her a very well-rounded designer, Jillian credits her own talent and personal taste level that sets her apart from the rest.
Art stimulates Jillian’s creativity, as she’s often inspired by the illustrations of Ruben Toledo and Patrick Nagel, the architecture of Antoni Gaudi and Santiago Calatrava, and the art of Egon Schiele. Other sources of inspiration include military uniforms, armor, ballet and the idea of incorporating technology into clothing. Ultimately, Jillian’s designs are her visual poetry of the things she loves and a reflection of the world around her. Not satisfied with being just another name on the tag of another dress, it’s her ambition to be revolutionary, fashion forward and to one day create a fashion empire of her own.

AGE: 31
HOMETOWN: Ramallah, Jerusalem
EDUCATION: Brooks College in California.
FAVORITE DESIGNERS: Alexander McQueen, Victor & Rolf, Olivier Theyskens
FASHION MUST A hot pair of leather boots.
Born in Ramallah, Jerusalem, Rami, 31, left his hometown soon after graduating from high school in 1996 and moved to the United States in pursuit of his childhood dream to one day become a fashion designer. Growing up as the son of an eclectic and fashionable mother, Rami was often commissioned by the local town socialites to design their ensembles.
In 1997, Rami began attending courses in design at Brooks College in California. After several months in the program, Rami was ready for a challenge and decided to take a different path. While keeping in the circle of fashion, Rami worked in retail for several years after his departure from design school. Retail eventually lead him to a buying and merchandising position at a well-known boutique in Los Angeles.
After a stint of traveling to Europe as a buyer, Rami bit the bullet and purchased two sewing machines. He vigorously studied pattern making from the local vintage boutiques. After three years of self-education, Rami began creating what would later be known as the “One of a Kind” collection, which was picked up by notable Los Angeles boutiques Aero & Co. and Diavolina.
Known for his dramatic red carpet gowns, Rami has draped the silhouettes of celebrities and trendsetters such as Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez, Portia De Rossi, Fergie, Amy Smart, Lucy Liu, Melanie Brown, Erykah Badu, Tracee Ellis Ross and Shiva Rose. FAVORITE DESIGNERS: Prada, John Galliano, Marni, Chloe, Phillip Lim, Balenciaga

He's not dahlings, I thought his gown was bad Walter Plunkett (think Scarlett O'Hara in GWTW) particularly the bodice. Ugh. I agree with NA, shave his head, maybe like Sampson his power will go away? ;)
I agree with the first person aufffed.
Ricky is the Andrae of this season, the emotional one.
What the hell did everyone take all that fabric for, except for the gown that pooed fabric, nobody used more than 3 or 4 kinds of fabric in their pieces. Waste!
Pistol needs to go next.

Although I thought both dresses in the bottom two were hideous, I think they got rid of the wrong one. That multi-layered 'thing' on a woman that had lost a lot of weight was just wrong wrong wrong. I felt so sorry for some of the women/models - here they thought they were looking pretty good, and the judges are tearing apart their clothes. Some of them seemed to take it personally.
And I LOVED Tim's line about making mistakes at 3am! I'm glad they edited the way they did, it makes Tim less stiff and more real.

I felt bad for Jack, what a drag. And lucky for Chris who got another chance, and really needed to lose the red crap on the dress. I'm ashamed to say, I did like Christian's outfit.

I continue to love this show. The only think I hate about it is the ominous music they play before it is announced who is "out". I'm surprised Elisa is still "in", however, doing things like sewing on yourself and spitting on the fabric are good for entertainment value. I'll miss Stephen. I loved his dry banter and squinchy smile (like a boy Diane Wiest). And, Chris needs to get off the stage.

And I agree, Chris needs to go for a second time. Those Mildred Pierce shoulder pads hurt me to look at them

I want to have someone remove his adenoids. Most annoying voice (and I agree on his hair). I loved the avant garde win he shared with Chris (who deserved the immunity for his over the top, Beach Blanket Babylon inspired gown)

The avant garde contest was the best so far (second favorite was the Candy episode). Last night's didn't do much for me, but I'm not in love with denim. Christian is a good designer, he just has an annoying personality. I wouldn't be surprised if he won in the end. We're down to last few and I'd be surprised if Ricky, Chris and Sweet P stick around much longer (although I LOVE watching Sweet Ps expressions when things get tough). So, that leaves Christian, Rami and Jillian. I'm not sure who I would choose between those three.

I can't help but agree with you, I was thinking last night, yes Christian is my pick to win. Like Rami, however, I am getting tired of his trademark collar/ruching/whatever you call it, as much as Rami's draping.
Although I do love Chris, but I do not think he will be in the top 3 going to Bryant Park. I'm shocked both Rickey and Sweet P have made it so far (though I liked her dress in the avant garde episode).

OH! For some reason I thought that 2 designers get eliminated this week. I pegged Chris and Sweet P as the ones.
I still think Christian is going to win this one. He's irritating as hell and has been since week 1 but he does a good job and is very creative.
I sure hope there's a new episode this week. I really hate when I get all jammified and comfortable and it's a re-run.
Oh, and there was a teaser for a new show called "Toe to Toe" - another reality show about dancers/choreographers. If it'd one right, I could like it. If it's schlocky, I will hate it. Either way, I don't mind. I hate getting sucked into new shows (and admit I've been watching the model contest ).

Well, last night was an obvious (and overdue) auffing of Sweet P. I loved the hair on her model, not so much the gown.
I also loved the annoying Christian's take on the Spanish Cavalier painting, a richly deserved win for him.
I will be very interested to see who gets axed before Bryant Park. Rami or Chris. Actually, while I think Rami does beautiful work, I'm pulling for Chris to come through. Chris may have done costume for the final gown, but it was spectacular and I thought Rami's draped gown was not nearly as nice as the first gown he did for the first challenge.
Brytant Park will now wait until week after next. Next up is the reunion show.

Oh god! That was a difficult decision, I'm sure and I'm not sure they made the right one. Chris' collection was wild and wonderful. It was so dramatically different than anything else out there. And, the craftsmanship! It was very surprised and loved all three pieces. I see him on a level with Christian LaCroix or Jean-Paul Gaultier - fantastic artful pieces of clothing that have to be DRAMATICALLY edited to be wearable. But, it's good art.
Rami's looks didn't gel for me. It was out there in some areas, and he did challenge himself but I didn't find it exciting.
I guess, I'm really disappointed that Chris didn't get chosen.

Chris was the only contestant left that I actually liked. He is himself, and he doesn't seem to look down on anyone else, the way the other contestants seemed to.
Yeah Chris was robbed
I just saw the episode. What happened was criminal.
Chris turns out these three beautiful Erté-inspired numbahs and he's auffed. Rami does that gross fashion felony velvet condom with the hip ruffles and he stays.
Sorry if this has already been posted, but have you seen Laura Bennett's pieces at QVC (http://www.qvc.com/qsearch/search.aspx)? Not as glam as our girl Laura's usual stuff but nice, very nice.
Edited to add: How weird. I copied the url for her stuff but it came up with storage stuff. Sorry but I can't get it to link.

I caught the finale last night, finally. I agree, NA, it was exciting.
Annoying as can be (as much due to editing as to personality) but I have to hand it to Christan, he collection was beautiful. Of the 4 PR winners, I suspect he will be the one to finally make a big splash in the fashion world.
So, in the end, a good show. I still hope something really good comes to Chris March who seemed to be not only totally delightful, but a very good designer, too. I rather would have seen him in the finale over Romi.

Season 6 premieres on August 6 2009 on Lifetime
I think I'm over "Project Runway". It's because I watched a documentary called "Seamless" (1995), directed by Douglas Keeve. He also directed Isaac Mizrahi's "Unzipped".
This "Seamless" is "Project Runway" Super Deluxe on Steroids featuring my nemesis and yours, Miss Nuclear Winter, Anna Wintour of Vogue. I mean, these contestants have TALENT. And the sewing chops? You died and went to fashion heaven, that's all.
These "Seamless" contestants are the real deal. I cannot imagine any of the "Project Runway" lightweights going up against them, except for that Daniel to whom Kors offered a job on air and, of course, our girl Laura.
So when you think of the fashion barracudas swimming around and around in the sharkpond we call 6th Ave., "Project Runway" just ...
It's over for me.

I'm looking forward to the LA location, although I admit concern for what that will do to the "cheap fabric" vibe downtown. Probably won't have much discernible effect though (I hope)
