We're surrounded by contradicting advice. One bit of well known sage advice says one thing, while another says the exact opposite. Whether it be a popular idiom, a song lyric, a movie title, people just can't seem to make up their mind. For instance:
Carpe Diem
vs.
Good things come to those who wait.
or
It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.
vs.
Owner of a lonely heart, much better than the owner of a broken heart.
Got any more?
