As some of you know, the MousePod, for all intents and purposes, is dead. It's been on hold for a while (there's an almost-finished show sitting on my hard drive), but for legal reasons, it's a smart idea to end it now.

However, since we started to plan our move to LA, I've been excited to start a show similar in structure to the "Oscar Shorts" episode of the MousePod. A bunch of people (that's you) come by our place, we enjoy some beverages and a light snacks, and then watch a cool movie. Following the movie, we'll have a discussion which will be recorded which, with a little editing, will become a podcast.

My new field recorder arrived yesterday, and I'm eager to do a test run. I'm thinking of starting tomorrow afternoon. I don't expect it will kick into full gear for a couple of weeks (many of those who participated in the Oscar MousePod will not be available next weekend, and then there's MA), but if two or three people want to join me to see how it works, it could be fun. If tomorrow (Sept 30) is too soon, then perhaps Saturday the 6th.

If anyone's interested - please PM me ASAP. Seats are always going to be limited...

(and no, I'm not changing my screen name)

This has intrigued me, and I'd love to take part in them. That said, my schedule tends to move around on me, so I won't be able to confirm more than a week in advance. :( Regarding the 6th, I'd love to say yes, but can't make promises. Tomorrow is bad (for me) since I am taking part in a marketing internship/challenge that meets on Sunday afternoons.. :(

Great idea! I'm up for it but it'll be Nov before I have time.

No one do Star Wars without me! :(

If I am in town, count me in!

I'd love to take part .... but I've simply got to know (please PM me) why the Mousepod is dead rather than merely going through one of its major hibernations.

Your O.P. implies to the cynical-minded (moi) that Disney is hounding the Disney-theme podcasts out of business, or yours in particular. I had thought you were just occupied with other stuff (oh, ya know, moving your entire lives and jobs and all to a new city).

What gives?

There's no Disney crackdown on podcasts. I'm still a fan.

I'll bet if you think really hard about the reason we ultimately moved down you can figure it out (...all right, I'll PM you).

I'm thinking that I won't do a movie Sunday night, but will begin in earnest on the 6th (Saturday). I'll pick the movie by Wednesday. Watch this thread for details.

Aww, the beat-retreat folks won't be able to come on the 6th. (Currently I have meetings on Sundays that might make it harder for me to join in regularly, but I'll do my best.)

Yeah - I'm going to miss the Beat Retreat folks big time - but I'm sure they'll be having tons o' fun...

As far as difficult Sundays are concerned - I'm thinking that Saturdays are going to be a more likely option anyway. Nothing kills a good conversation better than the awareness that it's a "school night". The only reason why I was contemplating starting today (Sunday) was because H's dad was in town until this morning.

Thank you for producing as many mousepod episodes as you did.

Ooh, my Mousepod pin is now a major collectors item! ;)

I'm going to miss the Mousepod! I had tons of fun helping out and was always flattered when you included my stuff. Hearing everyone else's wonderful contributions was always a treat.

Are you going to leave the podcasts available on your site or are you going to have to take them down? If so, I need to get them all zipped onto CDs. I've been counting on the fact that they would continue to be available.

Onward and upward. Of course you had to go and start these just as we go out of town. :p Hope everyone else has fun...

zapppop and i are going to be out of town on BeatRetreat weekend, too.

I predict an inauspicious start if you choose to start on the 6th.

just sayin'

Sounds like a good time! And I am always looking for ways to avoid adult responsibilities by having fun! ;)
