Help me find information- please!

Can anyone in Southern Cali help me find information on a funeral/obit???

My grandmother has died- our families were estranged but we are trying to get some info about any services- etc....

Her name is Sophie Hendricka Pazaricky- husband Anthony. They live in Venice, CA. She would have passed away in the last couple of days.

From here I am not sure how to get the information-I was hoping someone who lived out there might have knowledge of how and where to look.

Any help is appreciated!

I'd start with the local paper (if there is a rag for Venice) and if they're not online, call them and ask.

Oh, and I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Estranged or not, a family member is a family member.

From what I can find Venice has no paper of it's own-what areas would I look in?

Obitfinder (http://www.legacy.com/Obituaries.asp?Page=ObitFinder) isn't finding anything with that last name in the last 7 days (nationally or in California). On the off chance you misspelled the last name, I checked for all California obituaries mentioning Venice and found nothing.

That list includes one of the paid placements in today's LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/?track=leftnav-obituaries) so it wasn't published today, either.

If you all are estranged it probably would be a lot of drama to just show up without any warning anyway, so I'd suggest calling that number, seeing if anybody answers, expressing your sympathy, and asking for the information you want.

Their last name is spelled Pazaricky-unless they went completely bonkers and changed it.

I would not show up at their door- ever. I tried many times to contact them, and I considered showing up when I was out there- I never did.

If there is a funeral- I would not attend- by choice.

My mother however will attend- for her OWN closure if they can find the information.

That is their address- I know it by heart.

Some of my best childhood memories are because of them- but as I got older I saw things and went through things with them that made me see them as what they were- I am trying to remember the good, but the pain they caused is also very real.

My mom and dad did go on a road trip years back and went through and stopped to see them- they would not even answer the door.

Calling them? That would be akin to gouging out my own eyes. We have the address and #- my mom grew up in that house. It's not like they were hiding from us- they just ignored us- as if we did not exist.

I had found that one- it's a small community paper- may be worth looking at but so far it does not seem like a viable source.

ummm, I'm lost- I cross posted at MC to get ideas from them- but there is no info there. I'm sorry- what am I missing?

We did get the information from my mother's cousin- my parents are attending and I have chosen to join them.

This is not easy- as I have been angry at them for a long time. I have a choice to stay angry and not put this behind me- or I can choose to get some closure and forgive them and move on- so I am in the midst of finding airfare etc.....

I'll be staying with T & K- there is only one small thing left to organize and that is a ride somewhere closer to the funeral. The funeral is about 4 miles from the address Alex posted- I would be more than happy to kick in gas money if someone could help me get closer- maybe to meet my parents who are going to have a rental car. They are leaving right after the service- but I am going back to T&K's place- so maybe a ride part way back?

Or something?

I could also hop a shuttle to the Park from LAX since Mom and Dad are flying from there-

So- the rest of the story- earlier this year my grandfather needed gall bladder surgery and my grandmother was there with him. Shortly after he came out of the hospital- she had a stroke- he stayed with her (which he always did) and when she had a second stroke it put her into a coma- she never woke up again and died Thursday 9/27.

I know my grandfather and my uncle (who also abandoned us for the sake of inheiretance) know we know- they may or may not expect us to come. We are not going to reconcile- we are going to pay our respects. Mom, Dad, my brother and I -

*sigh* I've been going through alot of ups and downs. I am remembering good things- I used to be close to them- and when I get onto that flood of memories I am very sad......
