I had an amazing night last night.
I went to my second Dave Matthews Band concert and it had to be, without a doubt, the best concert I have ever been to.
The night before, I had a weird dream where I got backstage to meet Dave. At some point in the dream he said he would play #41 for me if I went to his concert tomorrow. I agreed to go in my dream.
I woke up and thought to myself, why not?
So got on Craig's List and found a single ticket in an okay seating area.
So I told the seller I'd buy it and I picked it up during lunch. And at 5:30pm, I was heading to the Bowl.
It was the best thing I have done for myself in awhile.
The Dave Matthews Band kicked a$s. Not only did he play #41 (for me :) ) but he played "Two Step", "Crush", "Stay" and #27 too. And for the second time in their entire career they played #34 live. It was "historic" or so said the lady next to me who had seen Dave 58 times.
The same lady, halway through a toke, asked me if I was Perisan Royalty. I said no. She said I looked exotic, like I was from the Middle East "or something". It made me laugh. On another strange note, she kissed me during "Warehouse". I'm not sure why. But I was the envy of all the straight men around me. :D
Oh yes, and when he played #41, John Mayer came out and played with him. It was a great surprise. And Mayer admitted that everything he is today is because of the DMB and he's right.
Also, Ziggy Marley and brother came out and sang "Exodus" with them as well. It was a "high" point in the evening. ;)
At first, I was feeling weird about going alone. But I met three rabid DMB fans there that made my evening. It was glorious.
I bought my GayDays t-shirt there. It's red and made from bamboo fibers. But it isn't pokey at all. :D
Here is there setlist from last night:
A Dream So Real
Two Step
#27
Crush
#34
The Idea Of You
Don’t Drink the Water
Corn Bread
You Might Die Trying
Eh Hee
Lie In Our Graves
Shotgun
#41
Warehouse
Exodus
Stay (Wasting Time)
Encore:
American Baby Intro
Grey Street
All in all, I'm still madly in love with Mr. Matthews. As I walked to my Park & Ride bus, Dave's tour bus passed by and he (or someone who looked like him) waved at us.
I'm still on a high from the whole evening.
Best. Concert. Ever!
