I figured rather than start a new thread every time I post a new show, I'd start this generic one, which I'll revive every week...

Anyway... Show #7 is up! This one should be pretty special to the Lounge, as it features a conversation with one of us...

He wanted me to let you know that he did do a shout-out to the group at the very end of the interview! Unfortunately, I wound up editing it because I sounded like a doofus ("C'mon, say hi to everybody!").

I hope that you dig it and that you'll be encouraged to pick up the phone and let me have my (gentle) way with you for a future show.

Awesome!

Loved the interview! I've had my share of talks with him on his experiences at the park and every time he brings it up I learn something new. People like him keep the past alive! Well done! :snap:

Everyone needs to hear this!

Excellent interview! The man is a fountain of knowledge and nostalgia. I love it, just love it, when he shares his stories with my kids -- it gives them a peek at a Disneyland they'll never know, and I'm so grateful for that.

aww shucks.

i had a great time with the interview, mousepod. I'd like to thank you for the opportunity to share some of my memories with others. believe me when i say it was the tip of the iceberg.

and sorry for making the interview so long... but as Sactown can testify, i cannot make a long story short! LOL

and yes, i wanted to mention each and everyone's name and say hello and tell you all how much you mean to me. this so-called "clique" not only welcomed me with open arms from day one, but, pulled me from the depths of despair and surrounded me with love and support.

for that, i want you all to know, i am truly grateful. were it not for you, the interview would not have been possible.

i cherish the friendships that i have made here. you have given me much joy and hope. thank you.

hugs to everyone!

Very nice job on #8, Jesse. Bravo! You got me all fired up to go to Wilderness Lodge again. In fact, I just looked up ticket/vacation packages prices for later this year!

Mickey's Pants... I don't know the Pantone swatch #; friend of mine used to work in WDFA, I'll ask him if he knows.

I uploaded the latest MousePod yesterday, but there was no way I was going to post anything serious on April 1. So here it is - for your enjoyment.

The feature of this one is an interview with Dave O'Neal from the Extinct Attractions Club. There are also some interesting "audio comments" and a couple of tunes to make you happy.

Hope you dig it.

The interview with the guy from Extinct Attractions really changed my view of him and his operation.

I have to admit that when I heard of this being a charity (a while ago), I was kind of skeptical. Seemed like this guy was trying to make a buck without Disney kicking his butt, off of movies donated by real fans. But hearing his life story really changed my opinion of him.

I do have to say that he got really wordy and it dragged things down a bit, but his stories were cool nonetheless. Amazing, how some down-and-out kid now gets to meet with the greats.

It does make me want to buy the DVDs, as well as that amazing CG Inner Space walk-through I've seen before. That one definitely took me to a place I have no memory of.

I just love the versions of Disney songs you play, Jesse! And the gmail clips were very cool too.

I finally had the time to listen to Mousepod #9 (my show closed). Jesse, what a great interview. Thanks, I really appreciate hearing someone like Dave O'Neal's story, and how he's changed his life around. I was extremely moved. Like CP, I was skeptical, I'm glad to know I was wrong. I do have to say, after seeing the Innerspace re-creation DVD on new year's eve, I was impressed with the quality of the work. Again, thanks for these shows, I look forward to your next one.
P.S. I'm PM'ing you with an interview opportunity I think you'll like. :)

The interview with the guy from Extinct Attractions really changed my view of him and his operation.

I think what gave him bad vibes, was back to his early MP days. It seemed as if was demanding, and asking too many questions. However, these seem to be quality products. I'll be picking up the ATIS one soon. :D

Oldschool 'pod!

Just finished listening to the new edition. Spiffy! I've definitely been wondering where you've amassed all of this swell music I'd never heard before. Of course, the more I get to know you, the more I know I should never doubt your ability to find and collect stuff I'm not even aware exists.

Hey, is the recently-released Bossa Disney stuff going to be in the original language, or have they recorded new versions?

Good work, as usual!

mousepod

Thanks for the kind words.

The new US release of "Disney Bossa Nova" is entirely in Portuguese, just like the track I played on the MousePod.

Here's a link to the CD on amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00080EV0M/qid=1114627422/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl15/102-9530303-1396924?v=glance&s=music&n=507846) .

If you get both the Japanese CDs, there are 16 more tracks, including two remixes and three tracks by a Japanese artist named Yoshiroro Nakamura that probably will never make it to a US release no matter how successful this one is.

...and now you know the rest of the story.

Your obedient servant,
MousePod

FYI:

Disneyland Resort to 'Podcast' Launch of Its 50th Anniversary Celebration

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning Tuesday, May 3, Disneyland Resort will "podcast" three days of celebrity-filled festivities leading to the May 5 launch of the "Happiest Celebration on Earth," an 18-month global commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Disneyland in California that will simultaneously kick-off ceremonies at Disney parks around the world.

The innovative podcast represents the first time that any Disney theme park in the world will engage in the rapidly growing medium of podcasting. Podcasts are MP3 audio files that can be automatically downloaded to your personal computer and transferred to an iPod or other portable MP3 player.

The podcast will incorporate a collection of exclusive celebrity- interviews, music, historic anecdotes and live event coverage that convey the excitement of the event and the story of what has made Disneyland a national treasure over the past five decades. The podcasts will include behind the scenes interviews as well as audio content detailing the debut of exciting new entertainment spectaculars and groundbreaking adventures and attractions premiering at the Disneyland Resort as part of the 50th anniversary celebration.

Produced daily after the each day's events from Tuesday, May 3, through Thursday, May 5, this unique Internet-based show will be free and accessible to a global audience at: http://www.disneyland.com/podcast (http://www.disneyland.com/podcast).

"Podcasting allows us to bring the magic of Disney and our 50th anniversary celebration to worldwide consumers through this exciting new medium," said Duncan Wardle, vice president of press and publicity, Disneyland Resort. "Through this truly cutting-edge technology we can literally bring the fun, magic and excitement of this global launch to Disney fans everywhere."

Podcast pioneer Michael W. Geoghegan will serve as host for the series. Geoghegan was an early adopter of the emerging technology and serves as host for several popular podcast shows.

The "Happiest Celebration on Earth" is highlighted by the premiere of exciting new entertainment spectaculars and innovative adventures and attractions at Disneyland Resort, California; Walt Disney World Resort, Florida; Tokyo Disney Resort, Japan; and Disneyland Resort Paris, France. Joining the celebration on September 12, 2005, will be Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney's 11th vacation destination and first theme park in China. The global celebration marks the largest debut of new Disney theme park attractions and entertainment ever unveiled.

Thanks for posting this, ML. I'm of mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I'm delighted that the Disney Co. has embraced such a new technology as podcasting - I obviously see the potential of the medium. On the other hand, I'm a little wary of the content that Disney is going to be putting out. The guys doing the podcast are cool and pop-culture savvy, but I'm thinking that this might wind up being a little infomercial-like (Don't ask if I'm jealous that these guys get the most amazing access - of course I am).

Anyway, I guess being unofficial has its benefits, and because of ridiculous demand, my show is going weekly as of last Wednesday. I guess I'll be checking out the official show along with everyone else. I'll post my reviews here and on my own show.

It's been less than a week, but MousePod #11 is up!

I've communicated with the producer of the official podcast, and I'm fairly certain it's going to be great - so for those of us who aren't going to be there this week, there'll be two very different perspectives to put us in the picture.

This show gives a little preview of the podcasts, answers last week's trivia question and presents a nifty little primer on pin collecting.

Hope you dig it.

soon, met up with gus gus and kevy baby and minutes later the rest of the gang...we re-grouped on the steps of Disney Gallery and waited for the opening...

I just read this blog (http://computer-vet.com/weblog/2005/05/22/at_disneyland_everyone_is_a_reporter.html), which has a great review of the 05/05/05 MousePod. Thought I'd share it with you since you were the ones who made it so special. Thanks again!

Here are some excerpts:
I heard a really awesome podcast the other day, one that really shows what can be done with grassroots media and citizen’s reporting. And it was actually an episode of the MousePod, which I’ve been following ever since it started four months ago...

...the MousePod is the number one unofficial Disney podcast, so of course you knew Jesse would try to do some kind of special coverage of the event on the 5th. But Jesse was stuck in San Francisco with laryngitis, so there was no way for him to get to Anaheim to cover the festivities. Instead, the stroke of genius that he had was to recruit his listeners to become a band of roving reporters, and he set up a voice mail box for them to call in with updates on what was happening at the park. This turned out to be a great idea, and the result is one of the best podcasts I’ve heard yet...

...by listening to the MousePod you get the feel of what it was really like for the thousands and thousands of ordinary people that were in the park that day...

...This is what the future of reporting looks like.

Did you guys hear that the upcoming revision of iTunes (4.9) will have podcasting built-in? It'll feature a categorized directory listing (looks similar to iTunes Music Store, if not an extension of it) to find and subscribe to podcasts, but we'll also be able to customize and add our own podcasts provided we have the feed XML of course.

Though it's true that iPodderX does a great job integrating with adding to iTunes library, this is a neat step in the direction of popularizing podcasts even more.

iTunes 4.9 is expected to be released in the next couple of weeks, and is expected to be free, as are most (if not all?) current podcasts. Additionally, pay-only "premium content" is rumoured to be in the works.

The latest show is up! I decided that since it's been so long since the last show, I'd stick to a single topic. I came up with a list of items that were directly related to the topic and switched on my mic. What happened next was a little unexpected. Perhaps it was because of my new work hours (I'm working 7am to 3pm every day) in conjunction with the fact that I didn't start recording until almost midnight. Perhaps it was the 2 (count 'em) "Coke Zeros" that I downed right before I started. Maybe it was my excitement about the weekend trip to Anaheim. Whatever the cause, I rambled on for over an hour and barely scratched the surface of what seemed like a fairly finite topic. C'est la vie.

Just finished it up. Awesome. Great to hear everyone's take.

I meant to call in more, later in the day, but my voice was totally shot. Oh well, there were plenty of other callers, that's for sure!

The song at the end is great! I had never heard it before. And to hear "Ariel" sing it makes it even more special. :)

I had my user title as "I believe in Disneyland" without knowing I was quoting it...

Aww, now I can't find the full lyrics online :( I guess I'll work on transcribing them later.

I now adore this song. The music is fantastic, just reading the lyrics doesn't do it justice!

Disneyland by Hamlisch and Ashman

Hot Sunday night, I guess the folks were busy fightin’
Joe’d already left home.
11 years old on my own feeling nothing but lonely
There’s nothing to do, nothing out there but the traffic
down on state 93.
So I’d sit through the night
by our old black and white TV.
And that’s when I saw it.
That’s when I heard it.
Calling…calling…me……

Disneyland ...
Magic Kingdom, Disneyland.
Close my eyes real tight,
wishin' hard I might,
wishin’ hard I may
find my way to Disneyland.
Gotta get to Disneyland.
On a western breeze,
magic carpet please,
please carry me away.

Oh, I know you’re gonna say
the trees are paper-mache
it’s done with mirrors
no magic there.
Each little bird’s full of springs
you press a button it sings
recorded music in the air.
They’ve had the mountain refaced
it’s only plywood and paste
go on, say it!
I’ll turn around and tell you
I don’t care!

I don’t care.

I will live in Disneyland.
Make my home in Disneyland.
Maybe it’s all fake
that’s a chance I’ll take
it’s perfectly ok.
Some lucky day
Disneyland
Take me there to
Disneyland
and when I get to Disneyland
I’ll stay!

Wow! I just finished listening to MousePod #17, Part II of the Disneyland's 50th Birthday podcast. Great job again to mousepod and all the callers for their reports and right-on descriptions of the mood, activities and feelings about July 17, 2005 and the experience of being there.

There were so many good callers and descriptions, but one phrase stuck in my mind from Teresa/Disneyphile as she described entering Disneyland and walking down Main Street: "Parting of the Geek Sea" :D

Jesse plugged Lounge of Tomorrow, MiceChat and several other podcasts, so I suspect those places could get an influx of new members/listeners in the coming days.

And I'm a bit envious of Jesse and Heather for having the followng RARE words asked of them by a Peter Pan's Flight cast member: "Wanna go again?"
