Here it is in all its glory:
http://homepage.mac.com/tdsproductions/iMovieTheater1.html
(May take a moment to load.)
Please give me some honest feedback! The idea behind this was to show motion (dynamic) and a bit of color, relating to television and film (in the spirit of color bars).
The static logo will be a freezeframe of the animated one for use on business cards, etc. The animated logo will be used to front my productions, as well as the opening page of my website.

Stupid QuickTime never works on this PC ever! :(
One of these days I'll get a new one.
I am sure it is awesome Teresa.

Since you asked for feedback: I dig the circular part, but I felt the words appeared so quickly that the effect used when they appear is completely lost. I'd slow that down a tad.
The static version you posted isn't working.

I likey but I echo CP's comment above. Put the circly part up a tad longer, or the words up a tad longer before they disappear. It seems so ... sudden (maybe compare it to a logo just slowing the entire thing down, as it stands, by a second). Also, 40MB is way too big for a front page logo, there's gotta be a way to shrink that down. Otherwise, good work! :)

Yeah, I'd definitely agree with CP - and add that - from a marketing standpoint - while the animation is cool, your company name doesn't stay static at the end; you may definitely want to land on it (because - as you're still a new company - name recognition is really important, and it's hard to stick it in people's heads if the logo doesn't stick around at the end of the animation for at least a few seconds.)
Also to Chernie's point, click-through data has shown that the longer it takes a page to load, the less people stick around to see it. This is not to say that you have to limit yourself to HTML - there's all kinds of great SEO for flash these days, and there are a lot of cool tricks you can do to improve loading - I'd recommend talking to a flash specialist for implementation. (I've got a crew of them if you need ideas.)

Yikes, I will have to watch this once I get home... I'm having issues getting it to load while Im at school. :(
Without viewing the actual item, but by reading the above comments - I tend to agree that "landing" an animated logo can add a lot of impact, visually and emotionally. Of course, I need to see it to give a full opinion - so I'll save the real deal for later tonight.

I like it too, only it took absolutely forever to load and I'm not on dialup! I like the effects used, but also agree that they are too fast. Good work though!

It never loaded for me. :(

I didn't think it was going to, so I left it in the background. I don't know how long it actually took, but I had time to recap all the fire threads and check some news sites while I waited.
I can't get it to load.
But can I ask what the intended purpose is that you'd be using an animated logo? Is this just for static display on a web site?

Yeah, I'm with the "slow down the text animation" camp (as well as reducing the file side).
Concept looks good though!

But can I ask what the intended purpose is that you'd be using an animated logo? Is this just for static display on a web site?My business is video production that does include animated titles and such, so I'd like it to be a great intro to my site.
Good note on the size. I plan to have it as a Flash intro.
I will also slow it down a touch. I did this in Motion, and I'm still learning, so I just have to figure out how to do some things.
And, excellent remarks about the "landing". I'll have to add that at the end.
I also still have audio to add, so it's still a work-in-progress, and this feedback is helping tremendously. :D (Sorry for the slow load times though.) And, I'll fix the static link. Photobucket was acting up the other night, so I used Picasa, but for some reason, it's now a dead link.

Ooh- also, you might consider adjusting the weight of the text in the Motion program, as it seems to be cutting off or not displaying the whole of the pixels. Good work so far!

Teresa,
That is a wonderful logo. I love it! I like that it is white letters in a dark backgound. the contrast is great! Is there anyway to have the animation not be Quicktime?

I like it, but agree it goes a little too fast. Very well designed !

It will be converted to Flash for the website, but in the meantime, I'll keep it in Quicktime, because I can compress it faster for sample viewing. :)

Can't get the animation to load. The static image is nice - but I think the font needs something. It's too much like standard word document text for my tastes.
Be careful with logos on black as you're going to want to print them on white at times. You need to have a reverse of the image look nice. (think of letterhead, invoices, envelopes, etc. )
Suggestion for landing pages that are only graphic - don't. You'll have a difficult if not impossible time ever ranking for search terms for the page. It will be pretty the first time someone sees it (that is, if it loads for them quickly) and future visits it will become just another hurdle for them to click past.
I highly recommend http://highrankings.com for search engine optimization info. They are have a really good forum and don't get caught up in all the drama found on other SEO message boards.
Concept though? I like it.

Damn, I love this board!
I really appreciate all the time everyone has taken to give me feedback. It really helps to see it from other points of view, and I'm taking all of this to heart during the creation of the final copy.
You all rock! :)
