When will it stop!
Must EVERY FRELLING MOVIE EVER MADE be Remade??!?
Naomi Watts has been signed to star as Tippi Hedron in the remake of The Birds.
THE BIRDS!!
Frelling Holy Jeebus in a Cup! I can't stand it any more!
And mark my words, this will not be a psychological thriller with the mystery of why Tippi's character and her mild psychoses are intimiately connected with birds gone murderously crazy ... but rather will be a monster movie of horrific bird attacks with no basis in anything other than special effects, gore, and shocks.

Why must they remake / redo all his moves I can sort of understand making a new movie based on a classic with modern stuff and major changes... but why call it the same thing?

With any luck, Laura San Giacomo will play Suzanne Pleshette's character.

With any luck, I will get to have sex with Nicole Kidman
(This has nothing to do with this thread; I was just thinking it)
Kenneth Branagh was on Craig Ferguson last night (promoting the new Sleuth) and when asked about remakes he commented how he doesn't really have a problem with them, after all he is about to do his sixth production of Hamlet.
Which I agree with. I don't really have a problem with remakes, just bad ones. Since the first Birds isn't all that good when done by a master I don't really have any hopes for a remake unless it goes in a significantly different direction.
Of course, I just watched part of Mogambo which not only was a remake of Red Dust from 20 years earlier but the second remake of it done.

The original Sleuth film remains an all-time favorite. I saw it in the theatres with my parents when I was 10. Oddly, that same year they would not allow me to see The Poseidon Adventure. They did, however, take me to Cabaret. I will certainly see the remake.
Re the remake of The Birds: I smell global warming.
And now: a tasteless remark:
Kevy: would you settle for sex with Suzanne Pleshette? She's available and all patched up.

If Hitch Weren't So Fat, He'd Roll Over in His Grave
Humm would you say:
If Hitch Weren't So Gay, He'd Roll Over in His Grave
If Hitch Weren't So Catholic, He'd Roll Over in His Grave
If Hitch Weren't So Short, He'd Roll Over in His Grave
If Hitch Weren't So Jewish, He'd Roll Over in His Grave
No, probably not. I guess it's just ok to ridicule as long as you are not in that specific group.

If I weren't so fat I'd roll over in my grave.
Oh, wait, I'm not dead yet.
If my dog wasn't dead he'd roll over in his grave, as well. That was his best trick.

I suppose it's 'cause i didn't see how being a short gay jew for jesus would interfere with free rolling around in a cramped coffin ... while the attribute of fat would. But I'm sorry if my simple play on words caused any offense.
and tref, only humans roll over in their graves. Canines play dead in theirs.

Um... Hitch was cremated, and his ashes scattered over the Pacific
But I'm sorry if my simple play on words caused any offense.
Stand by your joke, soldier!
Prudence -- slap me with an L7 will ye? How dare you!
But hey, Hitchcock was a big man. Hitch would be the first one to agree, too. So, get over it. Not everything relates back to you.

That's right, boys and girls .... this is the LoT.
We flow a little looser here.
We can handle it.

We do flow a little looser here, but I'm not terribly thrilled with what just happened. I'd really like not to have to deal with any of this type of BS. But, so it goes for now.

I think if someone gives someody some bad mojo, there should be no rule or even polite agreement to disallow outing of said mojo. If you feel strongly enough in our small and typically cordial internet community to give negative you should be be man or woman enough to accept that it was made public.

Personally, I feel it is bad form to discuss it publicly. But that is just my opinion.
And FWIW, I am guilty of doing so in the past (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/showthread.php?p=13364#post13364) (outing a negative mojo). But I like to think I have learned from it.

Oh! I remember KOH. He said I was "Anal". I don't think I'm anal. Do you? No I'm not. I'm analytical, perhaps a bit (just a bit) cynical, sarcastic and on occasion condescending, but anal? I can't see that being a fair description. However just to be safe, perhaps I better go back over all my old posts and devise a rating scale for their analness. If I rank each post on a sliding scale based on the overall seriousness of the topic being discussed then I could perform a simple regression analysis to determine an overall anal rating. I could then compare that to other random posts to see where on the bell curve of analisity I fall. That would then provide incontrovertible proof that I am in fact not the least bit above average in being anal. At least around here.

Not that I did, or anything.

lol!
I'm not sure but wasn't there a remake of The Birds on TV at some point? Or am I thinking of some other remake...
Edited to add: I was wrong it was a sequel! Yikes! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109275/

Here is the long/short of it. I did not intend to 'out' anybody. I was smiling when I writ' 'How dare you!' I thought that was obvious. I was surprised by the L7 and laughed out loud, which is something I usually only do at my own posts. I was slapped for a Hitchcock joke -- and one I didn't even tell!
Amen, Amen, I say to you, but if that situation does not deserve an outing, what does? I guess it never occured to me that what I was doing might be improper. If I could only have had the wisdom and grace of a CoasterMatt or a Kevinbaby, then I could have forseen this event. But, then, I thought it was funny and my rule in life is always go for the funny.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I throw myself at your kind hearts & mercy.
I am not here to hurt anybody feelings, certainly not Prudence. I bear no grudge against she. Indeed, when CP zinged me a few years ago, I was angry, but later I realised that she had been right, I had been insensitive. So, I threw her some positive mojo back and then I took a long posting break. (And it was good.)
So what can a poorboy do, but either be a delicious sandwich, or saddened by this whole ugly chapter of LoT. Fact is, if we dropped mojo and L7's from LoT to-morrow, I would not mourn its passing. It has its place, I suppose, but not if we take it all so seriously.

Eh, its all water under the bridge. There's enough troubles in the world than to worry about this situation.
Carry on. Be silly. Have fun.

I just have to say that was a post most deserving of mojo, Tref!
I like to use my mojo for good, and as such have no problem with it being discussed. I'd rather people talk it out before they dish out the negs, but that's my own opinion and I realise everyone has their criteria for mojo-distribution. While I don't think it's healthy to obsess over the system, I think it's equally unhealthy to to lay a blanket 'no talking about you-know-what'- I've seen silly things happen when that rule is applied, and I think we're all better than that.
'Nuff derail- as far as the remakes go, I've no problem if they are good remakes. It's hard to improve on Mr. Hitchcock, though. If someone wants to expend the time, money and energy to try to do so, more power to them. It doesn't take away from the original; if anything, it enhances it.

I just hate when they remake movies that start with the word "the."
I wanted to go see The Haunting last night, for instance ... but must I say "The original The Haunting?"
I'd hate to have to refer to it as the original The Birds. It's just clunky. ;)
