PS: The monkeys are amazing. I never through about a zoetrope using strobe lights, and now I've seen two in as many days !

From burningman.com

Art Theme for 2008

This year's art theme is about patriotism -- not that kind which freights the nation state with the collective weight of ego, but a patriotism based upon a love of country and culture. Leave ideology at home; forget the blue states and the red; let parties, factions and the issues that divide us fall away. Ask yourself, instead, what can postmodern America yet give to the world?
Sounds like a good time to me (btw, a little vinegar does wonders for gettin' playa dust out of your stuff, just pour it in the wash)

Blue Man Group uses strobes and such for a zeotrope of man moving around at the Orlando show... and probably Vegas show as well... that was my first experience and now I've seen video of the Pixar one as well as this one.

really interesting how your eye as well as consumer video cameras pick up not as well though the event which takes place.

Let's have the Burning Lounge! We could set a large wooden structure shaped like a PC on fire and run around it neekid like a bunch of crazed adolecents a la Lord of the Flies! A great time for sure!! ;)

I thought the idea of Burning Man was to do something creative and over the top, not just more of the same old everyday type of thing.

That was really the only part of their show that I liked.

Otherwise, meh.

Why am I picturing a popsicle-stick-and-tissue-paper construct of a lava lamp going up in flames?
