and glad to be home. See the vent thread for the vent.

Anyway, tired, had fun, took not nearly as many photos as I would have liked, but when you are green from tossing cookies and feeling (quite literally) crappy, well......:blush:

Anyway, home with a wild cat whose very pleased to have her servant back home.

I'm still not all the way through that wonderful Santa Cruz book (well, readthrough #4)- I keep getting stuck on the pictures of the Boardwalk from the 1920s- I guess I wasn't made for these times.

Thanks! Good to be home, with regular internet access!

I'll post some pics later on, once I offload the camera. I'm already looking forward to going back so I can do some of the things I missed out on while I was lolling in bed. At least I was in a luxurious B&B while fighting with Montezuma.

Now back at the office (boo) and my desk is piled high with files! :( not unexpected, but sheesh, I'm not ready for this stuff!

Anyway, Lake Chapala is a nice little town of about 6000 people, poky little town in many ways and not without it's charm. There is a growing community of people from North of the border, not so much in Chapala proper, but down the carreterra to Aijijhic (I can't spell it) where there is a large Canadian and US population of retirees (young and old) and a couple of gated communities right next to some serious squalor.

Lake Chapala is HUGE, I did no real homework before traveling, relying on my roomie who is living there, which was a good thing. She was living in a nice apartment just off the melancon (lake front promenade), directly across the street from the police (every morning out for inspection with mean looking machine guns) and 1 block from the cathedral. So I had bells and police radios to keep me company.

I wish I could have seen more of Guadaljara than I did. I only managed 1 day out, and fortunately for me, the historic plaza was only a few blocks from the B&B. I did see at least the first floor of the museo, only passed quickly around the second floor in search of the banos....duh. Walked around the plaza, saw the main cathedral all decked out with various saints and martyrs for some festival for Guadalajara in October (needless to say there is at least one church in every town I passed through, duh). Also enjoyed a stroll through the local religious supply off the plaza, build your own church, I will show you how. Jeez, everything in every size possible, and lots of gore, the more gore on the saints and crucifixes, the better!
